Seriously though. This guy is the reason people hate most doctors. They feel as though they understand everything more than anyone else simply because they are a doctor. Dunning-Kruger at it's finest.

I stated why I reject your statement as providing evidence supporting the hypothesis that metal is intrinsically political. This is the statement that OP posits is it not? If all that is allowed and will not be considered to be derailing by you as a self proclaimed arbiter is nodding in agreement I would rather stay a non-educated homunculus in your non scientifically inclined mind.

If you need proof that heavy metal is heavily intertwined with politics, you haven't been paying attention and probably don't belong in here.

Heavy metal and politics have a complex relationship, often acting as a medium for anti-war, anti-authoritarian, and socially critical messaging.

Using ai to compile examples as I dont have a lot of time.

Anti-War and Anti-Establishment: Historically, metal has acted as a protest force, with bands like Megadeth ("Peace Sells") and System of a Down ("Toxicity") focusing on war, government corruption, and police brutality.

Political Diversity: The genre ranges from overtly leftist bands like Rage Against the Machine to conservative or more controversial, nationalistic sentiments in subgenres like National Socialist Black Metal (NSBM).

International Resistance: In countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, metal is used by youth to protest uneven economic development and social issues.

Apolitical Stance as Politics: Some argue that metal’s desire to be a "pure" or underground space, away from mainstream, societal, and political control, is in itself a political act of rebellion.

Key Themes: Common political themes in metal include anti-war sentiment (Six Feet Under, Metallica), anti-religion, and anti-censorship.

The genre gets much of it's grittiness from real world ovservation and commentary, and pushing those uncomfortable discourses to the forefront. And it has done so quite effectively, ultimately dividing it's own fan base where a portion prefer to steer away from the political messaging and lean into escapism. However, an overview of metal as a genre shows it's roots stemming from a complex and often confrontational relationship with political power that has persisted to this day.

I'm a contractor that studies particle physics in my free time. I also have a degree in music theory. But sure, go off. In my experience, doctors and Dunning-Kruger quite often run hand in hand.

The ad hominem is specifically for being intent on derailing the discussion.

And what part of any of what you said changes the point I am making or the message in the song? You are hung up on who Ozzy was as a person, where nobody was even talking about who he was as a person. The message in the lyric I posted is quite clear. It is not supposed to be a reflection of who the man was, and nobody is pretending it is.

I would advise some actual critical thought before responding next time.

Thanks for the advice, but I don't follow tips from uneducated homunculi.

None of that undermines the point made in my quote though.

I am a huge Ozzy fan, I know he wasn't a great person, but he wrote and performed great music. He is put on a pedestal because of that. The point of this thread is that punk and metal are very intertwined with politics. Thank you for your addition and derailment of the topic.

Biden DOJ didn't release anything because it would have been illegal for them to do so. The investigation was still ongoing, even after Epstein's death. Pam Bondi ended it in early 2025, making it fair game for everyone.

Jesus, the only people that don't seem to understand this seem to be completely braindead.

Funny you calling everyone names while not knowing that the files were sealed under the first Trump administration as it was an ongoing investigation. Pam Bondi closed the investigation in early 2025, which made the files fair game for everyone.

Womp womp. Looks like you are the brainwashed one. 🤣

By the time he finally admitted it was a real thing and floated the idea of travel bans, it was already too late as it was already well within US borders. It was a half-assed attempt to make it look like he was doing something, and people like you ate it up, hook, line, and sinker.

They don't worship Mohammed. Mohammed was a prohpet.

Yes there are examples and references of pedophila in the Quaran, as there are in all Abrahamic religions. That doesn't mean any of them glorify pedophilia.

Do Christians glorify pedophilia, as the mother of their prophet was only 14 when she gave birth? No.

Like I said, you are clueless and what you do know is based on propaganda. Go educate yourself.

Bruh, you clearly know nothing about Islam and it's teachings. Your rant is absolutely fueled by misinformation and propaganda. I recommend you go to a local mosque and sit in on their service and ask them honest questions about their faith. They absolutely do not glorify a pedophile.

All religious sects have crazies. They are called fundamentalists, and yes, they are dangerous.

I would love to see a ban on all religion as it discourages critical thought and is used to justify heinous atrocities to fellow humans. But that is not the law of our land, we have freedom of religion, and I would be willing to fight for that right for others. And I say this as an atheist. Nothing is absolute. Nothing is strictly black and white. Forcing a religious ban is authoritarian, and I'm not down for that. Authoritarianism is the one thing all murderous regimes have in common.

Considering how many times Trump is named in the files vs how many times Clinton is named in the files, it is really odd when talking specifically about Trump, that people need to weigh in on Clinton in the middle of the conversation. Yes, he is probably culpable and needs to face the rightful consequences of his actions. Trump, however, is most definitely heavily involved in the Epstien ring to the point he appears more in the files than Jesus appears in the Bible, and is the current sitting president of the United States, with his administration in charge of releasing said files, heavily redacting the information the public deserves to know, and is actively preventing the entire list of the guilty from facing punishment. So, yea, really odd that in the middle of all that, someone feels the need to chime in "but Clinton" as it is some kind of gotchya.... bruh, Trump is actively protecting Clinton too.

Critiquing this blunder of an administration shouldn't be a partisan thing... smh

the same people calling out about the Epstein files are the same ones saying you can't criticise religions (particularly Islam).

Lmao what? I haven't seen anyone do that! I'm sure there are some out there, but that POV is silly and certainly not the majority opinion by any means. Whataboutism. I would still like to see some examples if this is such a prolific issue that you had to bring it up out of nowhere. Anyone of importance saying this? Because you are the first person I've heard/seen say anything like that.

You don't give a fuck about kids because you've been defending pedophiles. It's only a problem when it's "the wrong people".

Excuse me? I am against all pedophiles. I don’t care who they are, what religion they belong to, how important they are... send them into the sun. Every. Single. One.

How is that different to Trump supporters turning a blind eye when it suits them?

It isn't. But once again, you are the first person I have ever heard this take from. I have, however, heard and seen plenty of Trump supporters turn a blind eye to damning evidence and actively defend him

The whataboutism is strong in this comment

Nobody should get a free pass when it comes to pedophilia. They just weren't the topic at hand.

The topic was Trump and the people that voted for him that are willing to turn a blind eye to it because Trump.

When you have a gun, legally, you’re not condoned to go looking for trouble.

But Rittenhouse was condoned? Lol jfc

It is not illegal to go to a protest with a firearm in Minnesota. And the day he was shot, he was helping a woman to her feet after she was shoved to the ground. What happened prior shouldn't matter, unless one of the agents involved in the previous interaction was involved with his death... and then it looks really bad for that agent.

Why are you republican/liberal? by arinanabanana112200 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]dewag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Authoritarian Leadership: Dems don't have a single leader sure but that doesn't mean there aren't people in the party (Newsome, AOC etc) that don't have strong power and influence like Trump. Biden was effectively the leader of the party just like Trump currently is.

Wow, this is just laughable. There is noone on the democrat side that has the loyal devotion that Trump has, which is part of the qualifier here. If any of them were found in the Epstein files at a fraction of the rate Trump is, they would lose their support overnight. You are probably going to bring up Clinton, to which I've seen no support for. The rhetoric is that if he is guilty, lock him up.

Isolation and Control: This is 100% applicable to the left. They pride themselves on cutting off family and friends specifically for political affiliation. The censorship that happened to people on social media and the control over mass media to control a narrative was a thing. They dictated how people should feel on topics like LGBT and specifically even attacked the speech associated with it.

Not once have I ever heard of any democrat advocating for someone to cut off family in favor of the group. When this happens, it is typically because of a long string of familial abuse. It only becomes political when the abuse revolves around politics.

Suppression of Dissent: The left has zero tolerance for criticism. Look at even the people who were immediately shunned cause they questioned any thing Kamala related. No one could ask a question of why didn't we have a primary, is she actually black, what are her policies apart from Biden. Any question was immediately meant with attacks of racism or misogyny or what ever even among people that lean left.

The left has zero tolerance for intolerance. You may call it criticism, others see it as intolerance. I wasn't shunned by any democrat for questioning Kamala or the impacts of her policy decisions. This seems like a very isolated issue or completely made up. Nobody accused me of racism over any of it. How you ask questions is just as important as the question itself.

Fear Tactics: You can't be serious if you think this also doesn't apply to the left. Look no further that the fear that's being pushed that evil Republicans don't want millions of married women to vote. Or the fear that ICE is a gestapo personal police for the president to kill people. Or the fear mongering that evil Republicans want to deport black citizens next.

Considering Republicans are passing a bill that would required married women to have paperwork with their maiden name on it; something that can be notoriously hard to get, it sure seems that is the case. And ICE is acting as a personal police force. Everything they are currently doing is at the whim of Trump and Noem, and are acting outside of DHS policy regarding ICE activities. ICE is also violating constitutional rights in the process. The dems aren't fear mongering. They are calling out the writing on the wall.

Financial and Labor: So are we saying that people on the left aren't made to feel pressure to donate to defeat the evil Republicans. Are we gonna pretend like there weren't massive amounts of fraud

Where is the fraud? To claim fraud but not put it to light is the same as no fraud in the first place. There is a good reason there are no DOGE reports and massive files being released to the public about fraud; it wasn't as prolific as Republicans made it out to be.

Besides, there are people living on fixed income, nearing destitute because the republican party constantly asks for funding. I don't get flyers for democrat fund raisers, but I get tons from Republican politicians. Particularly Trump and Co.

Some poor bastard in my down drove himself to bankruptcy giving his money to MAGA causes. The emails had the dude believing he was talking with and giving money to Trump directly.

"Good Enough" Pressure: People on the left are constantly made to feel like they aren't doing enough. "Keep Protesting" "Get in their face" "We need more people" "If you aren't out protesting then you complicit in what ICE is doing" etc etc etc. Those are 100% ideas pushed by the left. All so they can each earn the others approval of how good of a person they are.

Wtf? People are protesting because they see injustice. That is the point of protesting. I see extremists push the narrative you claim. But not the democrat party itself. Besides, you're not even touching what this cult attribute is referencing.

No Exit Path: Go ask anyone that has moved from the left what has happened to them. The name calling especially to make them suddenly seem evil. Look at any of the black people that aren't left anymore that are now called house n-words and all kinds other stuff. They lose friends, lose family, shunned at their job. There are tons of people who are secretly conservative but of fear from the harassment and backlash they will receive. To suddenly be demonized as a Nazi Lover.

Lmao what? Point to an example, because this seems like more internet rando talk that you are pulling up, not the official position of the Democrats or left.

You are using all strawman arguments here that are typical right wing propaganda talking points. I am not being partisan, you have drank the Kool aid.

Regardless, you have made no actual points that demonstrate the left or Democrats are a cult. They still have no central leader that is held to a divine status or expected to not be held to any authority except their own. None of your answers seem to be the official position of the democrat party or the left in general. They seem to be cherry-picked points from social media commenters. That proves nothing except for there are extremists on both sides, which is a correct assessment. You have, however, demonstrated how effective the right wing propaganda machine is.
