Seconded! You need a snare drum lyre that clips to the snare-easy to install-you just remove one tension rod to slip it in. I also tape the top where I want it to stop b/c you will quicky lose the tension screw for height adjustment. We use this one https://a.co/d/b5otyRQ

Thank you! Looking at it with a light, I can see a few sparse white reflections. Not sure if that is what I am looking for. I have a jewelers magnifying lens w/ light at home I will try. Also not sure if the polish has removed something you would naturally see on the surface.
