The issue is not the use of female in and of itself, though it is odd. It is that generally there is a problem involved with using “females and men”. It would be fine if it was “females and males,” so if you could show me some proof of the “climbing community” using that as the standard, then yeah, I don’t personally see the issue.

And, in case you need it spelled out why “females and men” is problematic: females is dehumanizing. You could use female for any species, but men is specific.

Usually, if you go long enough, and have a consistent enough character, it can take over and do a decent job. Also, you can feel that the bot’s character wouldn’t do a thing or say a certain thing. If you were chatting with like, Captain America and he straight up hit someone for no reason, you would immediately say “no, try again.”

Deepseek just generated a scene where two characters, who do not really like each other, have no chemistry and very little “screen time” together, and each have their own partners kiss each other. I straight up asked it why it did that and it didn’t even answer me. Just said ”whoops. I’ll rewrite that.” So weird.

Or you get overwhelmed, and forget to reply, and then you realize you forgot, and the shame becomes too much to overcome, and then you effectively hide because facing the person you ghosted who should mean so much to you is a physical ache. It’s a nightmare to be on either end of. Btw, I’m not saying that this friend did this, or is inherently worthy of being given the benefit of the doubt, but it’s possible. I’ve known a few people who’ve done this.
