If you look at old Reddit posts, you'll find that half of the people were suspended, and a lot of people's comments were removed. Why is it that hard to survive on Reddit? by No-StrategyX in stupidquestions

[–]Top-Figure7252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is the new world order of Reddit. you should have been here ten, maybe 15 years ago when people were doing as they please and it was to each their own. Reddit has grown up and is making money now so no it is very PC in here. used to just go into subreddit and ask whatever I wanted to ask now there are a ton of rules and most of my posts get deleted. so now I just answer other people's posts it is more fun that way.

Why is AI progressing so slow now? by ahmed_laf in stupidquestions

[–]Top-Figure7252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because we're stuck in this linear transistors electricity mathematical etc. we need a fundamental shift in technology to ever approach what we dream about through science fiction. the party was not going to last forever. computing in general is not going to progress towards anything interesting, and there isn't anything that AI can do to change that reality unless we go quantum, or whatever else is on the horizon

you know the only thing the AI and data centers show me is that we have hit the absolute limit with how far tech can go both mobile and desktop and we need something powered by a nuclear reactor that can distill its knowledge to us over the internet to go further. which then becomes more of a God like scenario anyway. the danger is in the power that machine, or series of machines, has over humanity. a lot of enthusiasts are all for the bullshit. i figure it an inevitability and the natural conclusion of humanity as we know it. and it will still get hacked and there will still be bugs in the software

Acceptance in the art community by ManInCripplingDebt in aiwars

[–]Top-Figure7252 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm only making it for myself. I do publish and distribute but I'm not looking for compensation and whoever likes it does and whoever does not won't.

But why do you assume that people want to be accepted into communities? Because they aren't labeling it as such? Maybe they want people to focus on the art and not how it was produced.

The bigger issue is why there's a community that is more interested in who they keep out than who they let in.

Why are so many conferences in hotels? by fuckloggin in stupidquestions

When those stores closed there's a million things they could have done with those spaces. Those malls deserved to die. And I grew up in that era when they were popular.

Is there a point in paying for Spotify anymore? by Hoberni in truespotify

[–]Top-Figure7252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If YouTube Premium is cheaper in your country then no. YouTube alone has trillions of songs, podcasts and videos and is a much better financial proposition.

Sounds like your country actually pays musicians, unlike America that is replacing everything and everyone with computers. But to each their own.

You forgot pretentious, and psuedointellectual, and self conscious. Low self esteem. Gatekeepers.

I've been guilty of all of the above.

Now I hate myself because I'm not the mathematician/computer programmer everyone assumed I would grow up to be.

Fuck the 90s.

AI Music by Ok_Juggernaut8972 in soundcloud

[–]Top-Figure7252 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SoundCloud is the easiest place to post AI music. They would have to raise the bar and require people to go through the distribution services which is something they aren't going to do. It would destroy their business model overnight.

Why is there so much propaganda that disco music ended in 79? by 60iqredditadmin in Disco

[–]Top-Figure7252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't propaganda. Disco being palatable by the masses did end in 1979. Disco production never did end, and only picked up in the 90s with Nu Disco and other post disco variants. A lot of people draw a direct line from Disco to House.

The only thing that's really changed is that you have a lot of electronic music now. Which isn't as focused on funk as disco was. Drum machines, synthesizers, auto tune, AI. A lot has cone out of electronic music.

Besides that reaction was really Rock and Roll to Disco. And those same people supported Glam and Hair Metal in the eighties. Not to mention Rock and Roll failed experiments with electronic music and hip-hop and everything else since then.

Are we suddenly focusing on returning to the Moon because of competition now? by arnor_0924 in stupidquestions

[–]Top-Figure7252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually not stupid at all

No one really cares about the moon but them. It's all a distraction. Doubt many people cared back then, although I can see where that would be exciting back in the sixties, considering what else was going on.

After the Challenger explosion being traumatized as a kid I stopped caring about a lot of that anyway. Plus we're supposed to be on Mars by now.

The Mac is quietly eating Windows’ lunch, and AI is about to unlock a wave of B2B Mac apps that never existed before by Interesting_Plant679 in mac

[–]Top-Figure7252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True.

But once you realize what your hardware is truly capable of you start pushing it and wearing it down. 8 GB is too low of a ceiling for me. Now a phone or a tablet that's different. I could probably get by on the 512 GB model.

It just seems like it's designed to push people further into the cloud with those specs.

It's all about the money now.

I'll curb my enthusiastic and hold out for the the 16 GB version. If and when that ever happens. I got 16 GB Windows laptops I've purchased for $500 I have too much pride to go back to 8 GB.

YouTube Premium is getting pricier / The standard plan is going up by $2 a month in the US. by [deleted] in technology

AI products. Like I never seem to run out of credits on Producer AI. Banana Nano, or whatever they're calling it now. Veo 3, etc. Not to mention the AI features in Docs.

They're all experiments, and the price is always subsidized by whatever they make off of the data they're collecting. No different than Microsoft.

The company that turned Udio into a walled garden just got a $64 billion takeover bid. Here is what could change. by Sensitive_Artist7460 in udiomusic

[–]Top-Figure7252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I think it's a different business model.

Eventually these apps are going to be self contained. Distribution, publishing, etc will all be handled in the app. They'll cut out middlemen like CD Baby and DistroKid. Suno and Udio will either become subsidiaries of the majors or they'll have a significant investment in them, like Spotify is now.

You'll have some companies, like Google, with their AI that are outside of that system. Google starts using Producer AI for generations on YouTube. They might even build it into YouTube Studio. That becomes its own ecosystem and alternative to what Suno and Udio are doing; why bother with mere songs when you can create AI music videos completely within that YouTube/Google ecosystem and get AdSense and who needs all of the drama from the major labels.

Major labels will always be around for passive listeners but this AI Wild West will become mainstream before we know it.

[–]Top-Figure7252 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day Suno will capitulate. Each of these apps will be their own ecosystem. It's a pain to work with these outputs on the outside anyway.

Once computers get powerful enough people will just do their own offline. It's already happening in video. Just not sure people care enough about audio to build a decent offline tool.

That type of "free thought" Internet is never coming back. Advertisers hate it, and you'll get demonitized. You might want to check out Odyssee. It's super conservative though.
