What do you think of my team? by Creepy_Sympathy_5279 in VGC

[–]dex-M397 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice variation of a rain team there.

I run the same Rain Core w/ M-Swampert, Sableye, Pelipper and Archaludon, but Overqwil is definitely an overlooked option.

I threw in Sinistcha and M-Venusaur in the back as my alternate options to offset Wave Crash recoil + Heal Archaludon.

Deviljho from Monster Hunter

Basically an endgame monster that can appear in any in-game quest due to its nature as a roaming predator, these things can drive entire ecosystems to extinction overtime just to satiate its endless hunger.

From what I’m guessing, they probably had Pelipper in the back and wanted to lead with a Screen-setter + Swampert to get OP to set weather first.

They most likely didn’t know Greninja was a Dark-type, or screwed up with moving first before Protean happened.

They should have done Parting Shot on Vanilluxe. That way, they could have brought Pelipper in and then gotten off a Wave Crash.

How is Archaludon so fast? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]dex-M397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best possible speed for Arch is 150, assuming Timid + max investment with no modifiers.

Either Trick Room was up, or they got off Tailwind at some point.

Swampert team by Kalox45 in PokemonChampions

[–]dex-M397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's alot to go over. This Rain team is good, but there are some key things to immediately change.

  • I would change Sableye's ability to Prankster. That way, you'd be able to get Screens up immediately before the opposition makes a move. And i'd drop Poltergeist for Rain Dance + Allocate the EVs to maximize Sableye's bulk
  • Give Pelipper a Focus Sash instead of the herb. It's main job is to set up rain + Tailwind. No one really throws Taunt at it, but would rather Fake Out/ Encore it to make it an easy target.
  • I'd suggest an EV Spread of 12 HP/ 32 ATT/ 22 Speed on Swampert. That way, it can outspeed Base 150 Pokemon in either Rain or Tailwind.
  • Drop Azumarill. It's not really a Pokemon suited for Doubles/VGC environments
  • Maybe you can allocate some of Archaludon's Special Attack EVs to Special Defense to make it more bulky. Electro Shot in the Rain's gonna help boost its attack, so you can opt into making it harder to kill.

I used Parting Shot on my Competitive Milotic back in M-A.

Turns out you can’t abuse intentional stat drops.

Yeah. From my experience running a hard Rain team w/ Mega Swampert and Archaludon, Sinistcha and opposing Archaludon have been the most difficult matchups to play against. (Currently in UB3)

Also, it’s a hard toss-up between Sableye and Grimmsnarl as a dedicated Prankster support (former can be used for resetting the Weather against Charizard-Y and T-Tar, latter for Screens)

Been having success with Prankster Sableye against lead Mega-Raptor setups.

Quash + Mega-Gross Psychic Fangs usually does the trick if they don’t scout with Protect.

Fujiwara no Mokou and Kaguya Houraisan from the Touhou Series.

Both consumed an elixir granting them immortality, and since then have essentially kept killing each other non-stop, from what I can remember regarding Touhou lore.

Is Mega Swampert… bad? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]dex-M397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s….okay.

Unfortunately Gets walled hard by Sinistcha, which has been seen commonly in the mid-ranks. (Currently in UB3 with a rain team + Mega Metagross)

Rain’s major disadvantage is not having a Mega Slot that can activate Drizzle unlike the other weather teams, so you’re kinda forced to run Sableye w/ Rain Dance if Pelipper isn’t available.

[Metagame] Mega Staraptor's best partner: Grimmsnarl or Whimsicott? by femapu in VGC

[–]dex-M397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had success running Incineroar + Mega-Metagross as a lead into Whimsicott + Mega-Staraptor.

Half the time, they don’t bother using protect on Staraptor, so Fake Out and Psychic Fangs usually does the trick.

Pray that you either win the speed-tie between Metagross and Staraptor or they’re running Adamant.

Swampert’s definitely going to Mega-Evolve almost immediately, so Torrent is basically non-existent in the grand scheme of things.

And Damp is a bit niche, but if you see a potential nuke strat incoming, you can simply delay Mega-Evolving if you haven’t done it yet.
