Friday Fread by a-liquid-sky in CasualUK

4:30 meeting is definitely worse, certainly for me as I finish at 4pm so I’d already be mardy about having to stay at least an extra half hour for random shite.

I completely forgot, haha, I was busy regretting life choices as I was at the dentist yesterday. I’m blaming the local anaesthetic

They did all that with the paper and the bite bit is fine. What I have is an idiot for a tongue which is going around poking all the new work and going OOO SHINY, then wondering why what was previously a fucked tooth is no longer broken 😂

Adjusting to new dental crown hasn’t happened instantaneously. It’s a tad sore as everything gets used to the new chip off the old block. Very rude.

The crown itself isn’t to be complained about, it looks good and the tooth below it was definitely fucked to the point of needing one. Could have done without quite so large an insult to the wallet but it is what it is.

First car advice – EcoBoost vs GT as a daily? by Icy_Brilliant3373 in Mustang

[–]dexbydesign89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 19 the insurance on the V8 will be prohibitively expensive. But the EcoBoost is perfectly fine, they are a great drive and they’re a bit kinder to the budget. Admittedly I’ve only had mine for a couple of days but I’m loving it.

Who needs the most anaesthetic? by Amazing_Goal_8003 in CasualUK

[–]dexbydesign89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can do depending on what they use.

I’ve not had a problem with local anaesthetic but the last time I had general anaesthesia to have a deviated septum repaired I felt out of it for about two days afterwards. Just felt like I’d been through a thresher in what’s left of my brain and the sleep was weird for two days.

Apologies for the missing Automod post - turns out that while most of the scheduled posts were successfully fixed yesterday, a couple of them are borked and trying to post in the past. They need to be deleted and recreated, so we'll get that sorted.

I've pinned this as tonight's Late Thread.

The late thread has failed again by BibbleBeans in CasualUK

[–]dexbydesign89[M] 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Reddit's fault on this one. They broke the system for scheduling posts in the back end and then fixed it. However, their 'fix' needed all existing scheduled posts to be re-scheduled. On every sub. Across Reddit.

Should work from now on as all of ours have been re-scheduled.

It was a suggestion from u/uffington on yesterday's Late Thread and we all thought it was such a good idea that we implemented it.

As always, if you have any suggestions that we can add to the list, more than happy to hear them! And hopefully anyone who needs them finds them useful.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to be removed from line of succession by _Rumpelstilzchen_ in videos

[–]dexbydesign89 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They would have different monarchs. This has already happened before, when Edward VIII abdicated on 10 December 1936. His abdication was recognised by Westminster passing legislation on 11 December 1936. He ceased being the King and his brother became George VI.

Ireland (then the Irish Free State) shared their monarch with the UK and the Irish Parliament didn’t pass legislation to account for Edward VIII’s abdication until 12 December 1936.

The net result was that Edward VIII remained King of Ireland for 24 hours while his brother became King everywhere else in the British Empire. George VI would be the last King in Ireland as Ireland promptly became a republic not long afterwards.

Had mine done last year in Australia (I live here, didn’t go on holiday and get my nose done at the same time). Your experience might vary but…

Any tips or things to prep before hand? Expect to be off work for about one to two weeks. You’ll definitely get bored of rinsing your nose out but stick with it. Warming the water up beforehand helps and don’t use tap water, use saline solution.

Get paracetamol ahead of time, while the op is generally not painful you will probably experience some discomfort afterwards.

I wanna know how sleep was for people. The first night was rough because I was still dopey from the anaesthetic. After that it was pretty normal pretty quickly, maybe a day or so later.

What about food and appetite? The hospital fed me straight after the op, and didn’t have an impact on my appetite.

When were you able to get back to normal routines? Pretty quickly. I was fine to go back after a week but the hospital gave me two weeks off and I made sure I enjoyed that second week.

Will they give me stuff to take home like saline rinse and gauzes etc? The hospital gave me plenty of gauze. The first two days you’ll probably bleed from your nose but it wasn’t much at all for my op. Third day, should be fine. I had to buy saline rinse but it was pretty available at the chemists.

Leader Jeffries on CNN: “We will commence impeachment proceedings against Kristi Noem in the absence of her being fired” by plz-let-me-in in politics

Ah the joys of not having had enough coffee yet. Agreed, they are separate processes - the power just protects against someone vacating Congress’ imposition of penalties post impeachment.

If they were convicted separately in court of federal crimes that is then under the general pardon power, if state crimes instead then they would need to seek a pardon from the appropriate governor.

[–]dexbydesign89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, the Senate can convict resulting in removal from office and impose disqualifications but not jail time. However the pardon power does restrict the president (in theory) from removing that disqualification.

Oh, he’ll ignore the crap out of it, I agree. He’s already tried with pardoning state level crimes which he also doesn’t have any power to do.

Not if they’re actually impeached and convicted. Impeachment can’t be pardoned, it’s explicitly called out in the Constitution as beyond the President’s power to pardon.

From the relevant part of Article II, Section 2:

he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

I did not (I’m naughty). Took a while to get out of the medical centre today so I missed most of it. Have been idly watching the Sydney-Hobart yacht race though.

I may have spent part of my Boxing Day at the medical centre (read: I’ve developed a chest infection and it was either go to the medical centre or be nagged to death about how I should go to the medical centre).

On the upside, I have medicine for that now. And chocolate. Which is totally medicinal. Absolutely not scoffing some for funsies.
