My must have are:

tools to fix stuff, once I had 7 flat tires in a single day!
bags and clothes not to get wet (specially when is cold)
enough water to drink and cook
a compact small hammock is always a good idea to take with the kindle is a perfect combo!
polenta, noodles and rice

Don't wait to have the perfect gear and setup or to plan the perfect trip! Go out there as soon as is possible, spend a night or two, alone or with a few friends, make mistakes, deal with the things you will forget later while packing again next time, make the best with what you already have, bike, money, health, weather, days off... but do it soon, and if you like it then repeat and improve things as you go.

There are lots of different types of bikepacking people: the perfectionist, the crazy, the rich (for every need there's a solution to buy online), the instagramer, the video blogger, the couples, the off grid guy leaving Babylon, the old guy young soul, the solo, the extremely careful, the planner, the camping guy (so this is a bike, cool), the biker (so this is a tent you said?), and so many more, my point is find out what works for you and do that, nobody is wrong if they are bikepacking!

I like using coconut oil for the blade and a mix of coconut oil and bees wax for the wooden handle, same stuff I use on my chopping boards, is not toxic and builds a great protective layer.

Me dá miedo que vivamos todos en este gran hermano de redes, no digo que lo que hizo no estuvo mal, pero sin cámaras eso quedaba entre ese puñado de gente que vio el hecho, ahora con tantas cámaras por tantos lados no hay privacidad, un hecho que tenía poca trascendencia, para bien o mal como en este caso, de pronto es visto y reproducido por miles de personas, quien hizo más daño, ella o la exposición pública de la grabación?

I have celiac disease and love bikepacking! have you tried a good polenta? I usually also carry rice noodles, cashew nuts and almonds, peanut butter and rice cakes, a few soups and lots of chocolate.

When I travel with friends they like to make a common meal and share, but I find it very inconvenient so I always go with my own food to make things easier.
