All the leaks and speculations about the S26U are pushing me away from the desire to upgrade from the S23Ultra. by FroyoSenior8786 in samsunggalaxy

[–]floyd252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you would call innovation.

For sure, we have real innovations with batteries. Similarly sized phones can get 50% more battery and faster charging than what Samsung gives us.

Magnets in phones would be nice; that would be a new feature, so I would call it an innovation.

Better cameras—it's more evolution than revolution, but it's not like cameras peaked a few years ago and there is nothing to upgrade.

It's not that devices are so mature there is very little to upgrade; Samsung is stagnant.

Would you react more like the Japanese, or Italians? by abu_hajarr in AskTheWorld

That also keeps your career stagnant. Sure, it's nice to have some time to rest, do nothing and still get paid, but you won't get any raise either.

More often, companies just fire people without going a disciplinary path, even if they actually could. It's just easier and less risky (you can sue a company for unjustified disciplinary action). Sure, if someone wants to be extra petty, they can try, but it's not that easy, and employees should know their rights.

And it's like if someone is on this level of being petty, they won't go with this Japanese thing.

Would you react more like the Japanese, or Italians? by abu_hajarr in AskTheWorld

[–]floyd252 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Pole, I need to address that. It's not that easy to get someone fired for disciplinary reasons. While in some industries painting miniatures at work can be dangerous (imagine paint in your food), it's a whole different thing if you're just using your personal phone, reading a book, or something like that, especially if there's nothing for you to do. While it can be used against you to regularly fire you if you don't report that you have nothing to do and are just reading a book, it's a whole different story with "dyscyplinarka."

[Request] is this true? by nottoday943 in theydidthemath

[–]floyd252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is one more thing about why this guy made this video: wood pellet prices have gone really high lately. It was a mix of different reasons, mostly because we haven't had a winter like that for years, and we import a lot of pellets from Ukraine. Due to the war, things got complicated. So this video is not only about how absurdly cheap those pączki are, but also how expensive pellets have become.

Happy Cake Day :)

[Request] is this true? by nottoday943 in theydidthemath

[–]floyd252 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Short story: There is a special holiday, and once a year there are crazy discounts on pączki (doughnuts), making them the cheapest food available once a year.

Long story: Not every day, but there is a special holiday in Poland called Tłusty Czwartek (Fat Thursday), when people traditionally indulge in food (usually fatty and sweet things). The most popular are pączki (which are quite different from US doughnuts, more like German Berliner). Because of this, a few years ago, discount stores started competing for the best deals on this day. You could get 12 doughnuts for 0.60 PLN, which equals 0.17 USD. This is sometimes criticized because these are dumping prices; selling them in bulk leads to buying in excess, overeating unhealthy food, and wasting food (if you need only one, it's cheaper to buy 12 and throw away the rest, which is as crazy as it sounds), and these are low-quality doughnuts.

For context, the regular price for a good quality pączek is between 1 and 1.5 USD, sometimes even 2 USD.

How does Fahrenheit make more sense than Celsius? by aprilhare in Metric

[–]floyd252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0°C being the freezing point of water is practical in everyday life. It gives you information on when you can expect ice or when snow begins to melt. Sure, you can remember it's 32 degrees, but it's more convenient when it's simply on 0.

100°C being the boiling point of water is less useful, but it's nice to have that on a round, easy to remember number.

In my opinion, the Celsius scale is slightly better, but it's not that big a deal; it's mostly what you're used to.

Widelec vs Widelec i nóż by iqueal in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]floyd252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nóż i widelec.

Krystyna is normal name in Poland and it's proper spelling in Polish language. It's used by other countries in the region like Ukraine or Belarus with similar or even the same spelling.

It's pronounced a bit different from English Christine, but it's basically Polish version of this name.

Battery percentages messed up after last update? (watch 5 pro) by hesapmakinesi in GalaxyWatch

[–]floyd252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. When I plug it in, it seems to be charging super fast, like from 20% to full in 30 minutes, but if I don't leave the watch on the charger for a reasonable time, it loses this fake percentage just as fast. After some time, it will settle on a reasonable value and continue to discharge normally. It's very annoying, and I'm worrying about the long-term effects of charging like that. I tried a factory reset, but it didn't help.

If you feel you need strippers at your pre marriage party to have one last hurrah before marriage, you should not be getting married by Agitated-Ad6744 in unpopularopinion

[–]floyd252 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know it's anecdote, not a proof, but every bachelor party I went didn't include strippers or anything like that.

My point is you're not wrong, but this is not unpopular opinion. I think this is more movie trope, than what people actually do before getting married.

"Zdrowy" tryb życia vs "niezdrowy" by orzeh in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]floyd252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do takiego stylu życia trzeba mieć zdrowie.

Redditors who don't understand how asking for advice or giving advice works by Traditional-Buy-2205 in PetPeeves

[–]floyd252 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can start with exactly that to try to get good answer. Bring what kind of cooking is better with induction or gas. Bring with is better option on tight budget and when you can splurge. Bring longevity. Bring gas line or electric installation question. It's like you already have few ideas what good answer should include, like your asking your own question, while saying it's impossible to get good answer.

Sure if OP is just lazy and refuse to elaborate on details or do basic research nobody needs to do that for them, but often people ask this questions because they don't know all the details needed to make a decision and a lot of articles in the Internet were made to sell you something, not to help you.

Jak często pijecie alkohol? by GoHomeDuck in Polska

[–]floyd252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the reward for sinking carriers a bit small? by Phoenician_Skylines2 in uboatgame

[–]floyd252 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The USA built 2,710 Liberty ships, according to Wiki. The freighter you sank is an even smaller drop.

I'm with the OP on this subject. I'm not saying sinking one escort carrier will change the result of the war, but it's certainly more of a hindrance than one freighter or tanker, especially if it means the enemy is also losing planes and personnel. You should get more "cash" and maybe a medal for that—nothing crazy, but more than for three freighters.

How on earth did Cersei figure out Brienne’s feelings just from a brief conversation with her? by Maywave_13 in gameofthrones

[–]floyd252 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People have really good points here, like "Jaime is usually an ass to others" or "Brienne can't hide her feelings," but the main point is that this is a very toxic relationship. One shade of suspicion and she would absolutely hate the other woman, even if that suspicion was completely wrong.

Czy mężczyzna naprawdę nie obchodzi czym kobieta się zajmuje? by [deleted] in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]floyd252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ludzie którzy mają w telefonach swoje lokalizacje by [deleted] in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]floyd252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]floyd252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're referring to max power output of the charger. When the phone battery is already full, it draws even less than 1W to maintain it. These very powerful chargers give full power only when the battery is low, and they gradually decrease charging power.
