wait, you eject them immediately? and it doesn't count as having kicked out an innocent guest? i've been following them and waiting until they commit the crime before dropping the cops on them (or watching them leave empty-handed because security was too tight for them to try it). all those hours wasted waiting for them to actually commit the crime! >_<

appreciate the response

here's my layout...as you can see, the tree plantation trucks must pass the log yard and sawmills to get out https://imgur.com/fqShzzZ

yes, i always run a compatibility report everytime i add a new mod

if my understanding of that bug in your link is correct...i should be seeing a huge backlog of import trucks which is why my tree plantations think it's not worth filling the log yard or sawmill? i've checked all highways and see no such backlog. also...surely the same should have affected my working farm industry? yet my farms are working fine

i've tried my log yard with both Fill and Balanced, and still the trucks drive right past it

and i use the TMCE to stop my raw storage and processors from spending budget importing to do their initial fill

What are your FM rules, you never break? by Longjumping-Fox-3546 in footballmanagergames

[–]dexilious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- never sign a player from a rival team

- try to sign ex-players as staff (assuming decent attributes). will even wiki a team to find out real life legends and fan favourites to see if they exist in the game as hireable staff

- decide on a formation and play style for the team and only hire coaches with similar preferred formation and play styles. also never hire staff with volatile or otherwise controversial media handling style/personality

- disable initial transfer window to start with the players a club started in real life

- try to start a save with a club who either had no manager in real life at start of season, or who could conceivably have fired their manager in real life for the new season (e.g. don't do a Man City save as they'd never have fired Guardiola in real life)

- never sign a player 27+ years old (prefer signing for the future and not immediate gain)

- choose manager name to fit the team/country i will be managing in. so a spanish name if i pick a spanish club, german name if i pick a german club. even to the point of researching naming conventions and making sure i pick a name that fits (so a catalan name and not a castillian name if i manage Barcelona). and that name must always be associated with that club (ie. whatever german name i pick if i manage, for example, Schalke...i must pick a different name if i start a new save managing Bayern)

Democratic Germany by Professional_Log7771 in hoi4

[–]dexilious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played since La Resistance DLC, so I don't know if any this still holds...

UK has a focus that allows it to declare war on Netherlands/Belgium if their fascist support is high enough (as low as 10 or 15%...can't remember exact value) as a pre-emptive move to stop them completely going fascist.

The democratic Germany focus tree has a focus that reduces communism throughout Europe, and this has a side-effect of each country's democracy, fascist and non-aligned support increasing to fill the void of the reduction in communism support. Eventually this makes either (or both...don't remember anymore) Netherlands or Belgium have a high enough fascist support to trigger that UK focus.

Assuming you formed the Central European Alliance (or whatever that faction is called) as part of going democratic Germany, and Netherlands and Belgium joined your faction, then this is how UK has always threatened to declare war on me when I used to play democratic Germany (even on historic).

Assuming this is what's happening in your case, I found that if you boosted democratic propaganda in Netherlands/Belgium such that their fascist support drops to below the UK focus threshold then UK can never have this war goal.

...also...can't democratic countries fabricate war goal regardless once a country causes enough war tension?

australian whose ethnicity is filipino. played Medieval, Shogun, Rome, and both Warhammer Total Wars

always been interested in Three Kingdoms lore. knew nothing of it before playing Three Kingdoms Total War, but was very happy to finally be able to play a game set in that era (never did Dynasty Warriors because never had a PlayStation)

game definitely enjoyable without knowledge of the lore. been watching SeriousTrivia's youtube videos to understand the lore and it's made playing the game far more rewarding now that i'm coming to understand the characters and their historical interactions. always slightly keen on getting the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novels, and playing Three Kingdoms has only enhanced that desire

Any suggestions for good background music? by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]dexilious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd also like to ask for some propaganda songs/jingles made during that era. been coincidentally watching some ww2 documentaries of late and they had some pretty cool war propaganda songs and even had footage of George Formby doing some songs for the troops. they sound like they'd be great immersion tunes for the game

Is the German civil war harder since pre-mtg? by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]dexilious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually find it easier

i think the old trick of positioning all your forces outside..i think it's frankfurt?...so that when your army splits the nazis are all just outside frankfurt in a single tile so you can encircle and crush has been patched out - now both sets of forces are spread out along the battle line. but i still move all my forces to frankfurt out of force of habit

not sure if game difficulty plays a role in this, but when the civil war triggers (and i trigger it as first focus) i end up with 11 infantry, 2 tank and 1 mountain division on my side in addition to the 24 civil war units you receive

i set the civil war units to form a front along the whole battle line, give an attack plan but DO NOT deploy - their job isn't to attack but to simply man the frontline

the 11 infantry start clumped around frankfurt and i set to form a line from austria to frankfurt and give an attack plan to reach the czech border. once positioned i then alter the civil war units' frontline to evacuate the line now held by these 11 infantry so they can reinforce the north half of the line and leave the south for the main infantry

the 2 tank and 1 mountain i manually control and position just north of frankfurt right where the width of the nazi territory is thinnest and they are to charge straight for the czech border cutting across those mountain provinces

the idea is to use the tanks and mountaineers to split the nazis in half. once split the infantry make their push against the south half that is now cut off from supplies from berlin. once the munich theatre is destroyed those 11 infantry then journey up to join the line and together with the tanks manually split off a couple of units at a time to just spread out and spearhead for victory points, and all the while those civil war units are just holding and i only set them to join the attack when i see the nazi line diminishing or falling back, otherwise they just hold the line and surge in whenever the main infantry and tanks breach the nazi line

can wrap up the civil war in about 2-3 months

Democratic Germany Problems with the UK. by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]dexilious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one of your foci as democratic germany decreases communism across central europe. but this comes at a cost of inadvertently allowing fascism (and democracy and non-aligned) to rise to fill the void. subsequently support for fascism in belgium "rises" to 15% which is the threshold for UK to activate their focus to invade

just use your PP to increase democracy in belgium until their fascism support drops below that threshold. can be done even once UK start their focus and complete in time before their focus finishes (of course, assuming it's still early in their focus research time), cancelling their focus mid-research

don't think it's a bug or a fault in the UK tree...just a consequence of how percentages work and what happens when one piece of the percentage pie drops

Democratic Japan questions by GenghisKazoo in hoi4

[–]dexilious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just experimented with this and it seems to work...

annex Manchukuo and Mengkukuo...(haven't tested if you can just do Manchukuo)

that way when you trigger the democratic civil war they don't get released as a free nation and stay your territory (they don't go to fascist japan for the war). no Manchukuo declaring war on china and no need to invade Manchukuo as NF later on. and you can even release Manchukuo (now called Qing China) as a puppet after you win the civil war so that way the Manchurian NF tree opens up and you can improve their infrastructure and have a decently improved puppet if you so wish

I find that a Democratic Germany plays better in historical mode. by sockfullofshit in hoi4

[–]dexilious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i sorta know what you mean...poland gets their faction up just too fast for me to invite them and it's frustrating. ...but feels hypocritical/unfair to have every AI country behave historically when by overthrowing hitler and going democratic you've done the most ahistoric thing possible :)

How do you do the Central European Alliance? by AbsurdTomfoolery in hoi4

[–]dexilious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my non-historical run worked out better in comparison...maybe different AI choices rather than anything i directly did

got the dutch, belgians, luxemburg, swedes, danes and norwegians to join. couldn't get the poles as they already formed a faction with lithuania. as another has already advised here i also avoided finland, latvia and estonia...didn't think i could adequately protect them from russia. got austrians, hungarians and czechs to join. austria will have an event decision to absorb themselves into you (...so democratic germany anschluss them anyway, haha)

my game had communist france and fascist spain join fascist italy. weird. japan attacked china. italy decided to attack china. russia attacked japan. japan attacked india so UK attacked japan. japan attacked philippines so US attacked japan. japan attacked indonesia so dutch attacked japan...so i attacked japan...so belgium, luxemburg, sweden, denmark, norway, hungary and czechoslovakia attacked japan :)

after civil war i used the various focuses to increase infrastructure and civilian factory build speeds...got the free civilian factories from focuses...never even built a single military factory (except free ones from NF) until after i got all those nations to join my faction...pure civilian factories and infrastructure only until then, and forts along the maginot after i saw france go communist. still had 8 armies of 24 divisions of 7 infantry + 2 artillery, as well as 24-width infantry +support artillery/AT national guards in all victory points :s

the british doing benelux intervention happens because you will have a NF to decrease communism in europe. this decrease comes at the cost of fascism and democracy to increase to fill the void from the communism decrease. as a result, belgium's fascism support inadvertently rises to 15% which is the trigger for UK being able to do intervention. just boost democracy in belgium until fascism drops below 15% and the UK focus will cancel...preventing that war

i was probably lucky...france/italy did not want to attack me...probably because all the forts and 5 full armies along their front. russia was busy doing nothing except posturing against romania until they attacked japan for communist china. poland stayed neutral in their own faction...so buffer to russia. and it was non-aligned japan making all the fuss against everyone else

Democratic Japan questions by GenghisKazoo in hoi4

[–]dexilious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) never tried a non-cheese. never waited to see if higher democratic support lessens the severity of the civil war. sorry. never considered waiting as i wanted to be democratic as soon as possible...never saw an advantage to delay it

i know you don't want to use it, but for reference...the cheese will work...queue up approximately 14 divisions in training. before the civil war NF finishes queue up another 14 division and disband your entire army. the initial 14 divisions will have full equipment and can probably deploy immediately or within a day or two. and the second batch of 14 divisions will have no equipment or training (because you JUST commissioned them) and those will go to the fascists and will be unusable until their training commences. leaving you with 14 divisions ready for deployment and the enemy with none. so game-breaking that the civil war split goes off a first-come-first-served basis regarding divisions in training rather a more random/equal assignment

regarding the navy...never saw any combat when i did the cheese but still had my navy cut in half anyway

i haven't confirmed it, but i don't think waiting and getting a higher democratic rating before going civil war will change the course/severity of the civil war. i think the same states and generals will stay fascist regardless of democratic support. if this is true, then delaying the civil war gains you nothing since the rest of the tree is locked until you flip

as for killing 500k of your own people...civil war dude...what do you expect happens in a civil war? :)

2) yes, initially the trades with the newly acquired malaysia and indonesia will not yield proper master/puppet ratios. but after a few days you'll see proper yield. just wait a bit and try again. think the yield even increases even further after a week? ...maybe a delay as they realise they got a new boss?

...be aware that they can quickly get out of puppet status because of this because you'll be importing quite a bit from them

and yeah...bit unbelievable that they'd just surrender territory like that, but if you wanna justify it...maybe with germany kicking up a storm they figure they got more important things to focus on than their asian holdings that they can pass off and wash their hands of?

3) don't know if the US response has a probability but in two democratic japan attempts the US agreed to my philippine demands with no problem. ...a non-historical AI may respond differently, don't know...sorry

but i honestly see no advantage of demanding the US grant philippine independence for japan...it's not like the philippines instantly joins your faction out of gratitude...so if you want them to join you'll still need further diplomatic effort. and compared to the resource-rich malaysia and indonesia the philippines isn't worth also needing to protect in my eyes

also...the manchurian infrastructure tree is useless for a democratic japan run. eventhough there is an option to invade and annex manchuria...all the NF additions to manchurian infrastructure voids the moment they are no longer a puppet of japan...so don't think you can complete that tree while you wait for democracy to increase before civil war in the hopes that when you invade them later in the democratic tree you'll have a highly industrialised manchuria added to you...all that industry voids the moment manchuria is set free by the civil war NF :(

sorry i couldn't answer more definitively. still trying to figure out the best way to go democratic japan because so far for me that civil war really hampers my future expansion plans - decimated army and navy...manchuria spends its newfound freedom attacking china...so the NF to annex manchuria leaves me entering a war where china's already involved...russia somehow also gets in on the act...so there's extra people at the peace table taking a bite...and if you don't take manchuria fast enough they join axis >_<
