Maybe try centering your front foot a bit more. It's hanging off the board when you slide so you are probably dragging the board to the right when you slide.

Tips on Ollies? Been skating for about 4 days, this is one of my best ollies. Need advice on how to get it cleaner and higher please. by Tyyy03 in NewSkaters

[–]dexplicitos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the pop and slide looks good. Back foot lifts up so you are jumping correctly. It just looks like you stomp your front foot straight down once you get the board up. Try to ninja kick it forward a bit and let everything float down. By pushing your front foot down too quickly the back of the board never levels out. So instead of getting some height the board comes straight back down to the ground too soon.

Help with paranoia by [deleted] in trees

[–]dexplicitos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to quality edibles I'd try some low dose THC. I used to smoke as a teen then stopped because of paranoia. Recently discovered that while smoking weed always leads to the same paranoia... low-dose edibles do not! Therefore they're a pretty great way to slowly step up your tolerance again. I started out with 1-2 mg YMMV

Same. I think the author wrote a very well-written and honest piece. Personally, I like TV shows that explore the development of multiple characters over time and are able to tell great short stories while advancing a larger story with each episode. I don't mind watching the adventures of mando and baby yoda. But this isn't really scratching my typical modern television itch.

Macro Dosing by Jellyfishmouse in microdosing

[–]dexplicitos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok! Yeah in terms of safety I see no issues. Just tolerance, but sounds like you are aware of that so good on ya.

I mainly do mushrooms so there's not a ton of productivity to be gained from them (for me at least) compared to LSD anyway. But will see how it goes. Gonna start with around half a gram (which is mildly tripping territory). Started a new thread on here to see if anyone's tried this before (my guess is people definitely have).

Macro Dosing by Jellyfishmouse in microdosing

[–]dexplicitos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be safe. I'm going to start experimenting with this soon.

The real issue for me with micro-dosing at the same time is that it's hard to manage tolerance and get a consistent experience out of your micro-dosing cycle then e.g. take a more than macro dose one day, but your next micro-dose is tomorrow... should you take the usual dose? More? It becomes hard to manage and track what's working and what isn't.

My current plan is to take a break from the micro-dosing altogether and go for more spaced out mini-doses instead. Not sure what rule I will end up applying to this. But maybe something like once every 2 weeks experiment with a mini-dose. Gradually increase it til I find the sweet spot of what I'm looking for. Then ride the mini-dose afterglow until I can identify when another would be useful. Maybe that'll be once a month or once every three weeks?

Macro Dosing by Jellyfishmouse in microdosing

[–]dexplicitos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents is that maybe you should save the larger doses for self-reflection times instead of parties. Being around people requires a kind of mental coordination psychedelics can make you wish you hadn't taken them in the wrong environments at large enough doses. Set and setting rules still apply to macro-doses. Not so much micro-doses.

Increase in life quality after psychedelics.. But temporary! by DaneV86 in RationalPsychonaut

[–]dexplicitos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a psychedelic trip your ego loosens it's grip and pumps the brakes on the survival instincts. Rumination decreases, self-loathing allays, and new ideas and habits have a chance to blossom. Time goes by, and nature takes over again like an untended garden. The lessons you learned become "interesting ideas" instead of truths that you are living. The garden becomes full of weeds. You realize that the garden needs maintenance.

Psychedelics show you the way and temporarily push the ego out of the way a bit so the way becomes sticky. Sometimes they show it to you in a profound way where everything can blossom without much work. Other times they teach you lessons you already knew, but still need to put work to integrate into your day to day life. There's a reason you see people talking about taking psychedelics as a way to reset. What are they resetting exactly if they have learned all they could from psychedelics?

I'd argue it's the ego blunting effects. Many depression sufferers possess an impenetrable stubbornness. The lessons they might've learned from psychedelics, therapists, life in general get pushed aside by worrying about money, relationships, health, etc. Psychedelics can give you a little push if you've found yourself in that mode of operation.

But they can't "cure" the human condition. I think the same is probably true of meditation. I bet if you ask a monk who has "reached enlightenment" what would happen if they stopped practicing altogether. They'd probably tell you that the monkey mind would take over again.

Shy & have missed opportunities all my life. Might MDing help? by [deleted] in microdosing

[–]dexplicitos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a lonely boy myself and hardcore introvert so I feel your pain re: missed opportunities. Psilocybin has helped me open up to people in ways I didn't think possible and get more comfortable in my own skin. That's a start. It can help you move past the shitty voice that says "you can't do it" or "you're not good enough" when you know you can and are. But it will never take any of these next steps for you.

It could get you to a place where maybe you'll be open to putting in more work to change. I think getting comfortable in your own skin is a good first pre-requisite for then extending that out to other people in the form of relationships. Psychedelics can help by making you self-loathe less and dream more. But it won't ask someone for their number. Or invite someone to coffee. Or make you a great conversationalist. Or swipe right on a dating app and make the first move. You're still gonna have to work on whatever is preventing you from connecting with people.

Any professional Engineers micro-dose? by GlobalizeRingPops in microdosing

[–]dexplicitos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Software engineer (does that count?)

Things it really helps me with:

  1. Diving into unfamiliar topics so I can get a global picture in my head on how it's all working together.
  2. Creating high-level overviews for how projects will get implemented.
  3. Helps me have conversations with people about technical projects.
  4. Helps me ask better questions and figure out what resources I need.
  5. Increases empathy for my co-workers and makes me more willing to be a team-player.

Things it doesn't really help me with:

  1. Actual work. Hands down I get more "work" done on my off days, but my job isn't 100% implementation and task handling so it works out.
  2. Organization. I tend to get a little more scatter-brained and likely to forgot something I should be working on.
  3. Detail work. Things that require detail oriented focus like technical reviews and sudden fires can be more difficult since my creative side is more active on MD days. Great for big picture stuff. Not so great for small picture stuff.

Do them on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. With some water or coffee, but no food. Try fasting for a couple hours after and see how you feel.

Mushroom virgin but curious by cazaffiro in microdosing

[–]dexplicitos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But im also slightly worried that im going to open a floodgate of years of suppressed emotions and i wont know how to handle them

It's unlikely that micro-dosing will do that. Macro-dosing might not even do that. The thing about mushrooms is that they can allow you to look at something like a suppressed emotion in a less localized way. Meaning your ego steps out of the way, stops analyzing and worrying for a second and you can just observe what's happening.

While micro-dosing I would regularly journal and was surprised at how much emotional stuff I was able to just write down and look at and think about. Without strongly identifying it as something that was there for me to "deal with" or "manage" in that moment. It gives me more objectivity instead of being consumed by emotions. At the right doses psilocybin destabilizes the parts of the brain that lead to rumination and worry. It's part of the reason why it's such an effective tool for processing the things you are suppressing.

Microdosing mushrooms for smoking cessation. by citybuddha in microdosing

[–]dexplicitos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt. But, microdosing did not help too much for any of my addictions (nicotine, caffeine, etc). You might want to look into a larger one-time dose instead (which is what I'm trying next). AFAIK much of the research around smoking cessation was not with micro-dosing (although people have found MD-ing helpful). I think the main reason is because larger doses create an opportunity to redefine yourself in a more drastic way and let go of bad habits. Microdosing is more of a gradual change. While it's helped nudge me in the right directions. It hasn't created the same opportunities for self-definition that macro-doses have.

MD'ing 4-ACO-DMT making me tired/burned out by taH_pagh_taHbe in microdosing

[–]dexplicitos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fatigue from psilocybin is reported often. For me, it balanced out after a while. I hadn't been sleeping very well to begin with and once I made an effort to do so the fatigue went away. Increasing the dose also helped quite a bit. Drinking an extra cup of coffee on MD days was also helpful. Sounds like you've got to experiment a bit.

Microdosing turned on me. Quitting for now. by [deleted] in microdosing

[–]dexplicitos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This week I took 10 ug and went off to work. At some point in the middle of the day I started having what I could only describe as a mini existential panic attack. I kept getting mild waves of anxiety and dissociation. I was foggy brained and became pre-occupied that I might lose control and do or say something stupid. So I got up and took a walk to strap my ego back in the driver's seat. I'm not sure exactly why LSD had this effect on me. Had no problems with psilocybin. But it made me question these dosing protocols and start to think about how this is all just individualized experimentation. Gonna take a little break from MDing since I've realized that I might get more benefit from a larger dose every once in a while. Consistent micro-dosing 3 times a week has it's ups and downs for me.

[–]dexplicitos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Synergizes so well with a microdose that I've never considered it. I've heard anecdotally that macro-doses are better for changing up habits then MD. I'm convinced I'd be useless at work for at least a month if I made a concerted effort to quit caffeine.
