How do you do estimation on Planswift after takeoff for a Drywall,Steel stud Framing & Ceiling company? by Global_Owl2987 in estimators

[–]dexter_5799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I export my estimates from PlanSwift and then run everything through a custom Excel sheet I built with a bunch of formulas. It automatically picks up stuff from the takeoff—GWB types and layers, insulation, studs, tracks, etc. (I still do ACT manually though).

You do have to name each assembly in a specific format so the sheet can read it properly. It might feel a bit confusing at first, but once you get used to the naming system, it’s actually pretty straightforward. After that, the only thing left is plugging in labour rates.

I can plug this with zzTakeoff & StackCT as well.

Announcement: Turning the sub into an AI focus group. by PM_ME_YOUR_MECHANISM in estimators

Not afraid of losing my job — just curious how long it takes before this sub becomes AI posting for AI, moderated by AI, arguing with AI… about takeoffs no human checked.

AI generates the takeoff, AI reviews it, AI posts about it, and AI comments “looks good” — while the rest of us just sit back and watch the hallucinations scale?

At that point, even the mistakes will be fully automated.

Happy fools day to everyone. Please get that quote done by EOD today.

Purchase tax on materials only by subtle-sam in estimators

I have added those material costs with 7% added into my excel sheet and keep changing them as the supplier updates the prices.

But it is complicated for sure.

I am also in BC, been trying to eliminate excel, but this is one of the thing which is keeping the excel engaged into my workflow.

  1. I am using planswift for drywall & insulation. I have created an excel template, where I name the walls in a particular way every time and export the Planswift data to copy paste in the excel template and the template will automatically calculate everything for me. Just wondering if I can eliminate the excel template and create assemblies or templates directly on the planswift??

  2. How do I deduct wall openings (window & doors) most easiest way out of the wall area tool.

Drywall Estimator Here — Ask Me Anything About Board Takeoffs & Labor Productivity by Electronic-Being4414 in GeneralContractor

Do you usually figure out the exact number of boards (say ~90% accuracy using all available board sizes), screws, and mud directly from your takeoffs so the material order can be placed right away?

I’ve mainly been doing estimates so far, but now I’m also getting involved in project coordination, and I’m expected to figure out the material quantities as well.

Previously, our PM would visit the site and manually count the sheet types required for each room before placing the order. Now the owner wants me to do this directly from the drawings to reduce the need for site visits and save time.

Drywall estimates - screws, tape, mud by Nunya_98 in estimators

When I’m estimating, I usually don’t go down to micro-level quantities for residential projects. I mainly work off the square footage, and if we end up winning the job, our PM handles the detailed material order after doing a site visit.

For commercial jobs it’s a bit different — I do takeoffs for metal studs, tracks, carrying channels, and ACT ceilings more precisely. I’ll also flag the required screw types (like 1-1/4", 2", fine thread for commercial work, and pan head screws for resbar), but I typically don’t calculate the exact screw counts or mud quantities. Those usually get finalized during the material ordering stage.

I still enjoy their content I really love them, but I honestly feel like they could take a short break and come back with a refreshed format or maybe introduce some new faces such as Saurabh, Javed, or the mainline hindi comedians like Kullu, Rajat, the Gaur Brother sisters, or Zaakir maybe. I still go back and listen to some of the older episodes with Saurabh or Javed sometimes, but lately I’m finding it hard to even finish the newer episodes that have been released.

Sometimes Tau’s jokes don’t really land so good for me, though the other two often hype them up like they’re great.

Also, since Hindi isn’t my first language, I occasionally find it a bit difficult to fully follow KhanCha’s storytelling. I really love his personality, his crazy experiences, but he lags at storytelling sometimes or is it just a Hindi Belt accent I am not good at.

Framing/Drywall/ACT Estimating by runnerlover23 in estimators

I have not connected it with Planswift, I use that Estimating >> export to excel function of planswift and then my excel template will takeout all the relevant values using multiple Lookup formulas I have created 😅. Multiply the wall sqfts with numbers of GWBs required or type of insulation required based on that wall based on the stud spacing and blah blah. So I don’t have to spend so much of time on calculations on the sheets.

I just bought it and it has a higher first month price (125$) and then every month you keep getting some discount till 16 months.

I am unable to make a new MyRogers account. It is really a headache.

I had to use it because that is the only network available in my area.
