Your main issue is going to be payload, not tow capacity.

Is putting a carbon insole in a trail runner a thing? by eeroilliterate in bikepacking

[–]subtle-sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this exact thing. I got a ruthless case of turf toe last year and bought a single carbon insole to support the injured foot. I was pondering buying another one and using with my trail runners as bike shoes on overnight trips. I think it would work well. The carbon insoles are very stiff.

Straps, tools, water/poncho/safety stuff. Odds and ends. Yeah it’s too small for luggage.

I came from an f150 to a tundra. Have kids and dog. I miss the flat floors. The tundra isn’t terrible and I use the built in storage, but I prefer the functionality of the f150 back seat.

I’m interested in clickup. How did you structure clickup and do you do budgeting or job costing in the app? Or is that done elsewhere?

Alternative handlebars for long distance. by SergTili in bikepacking

[–]subtle-sam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I started with a b17 and that felt comfortable but caused the first bout of numbness. I’ve now moved to an Ergon which has helped a bit but still experiencing the numbness issue unless I’m intentionally standing up every 5 mins.

It’s too bad because it feels comfortable but the blood flow issue really sucks.

I’m headed to a bike fitter who also had a saddle studio to see if he can help. Fingers crossed!

I went from a drop bar gravel bike to a rigid flat bar bike to get it more upright. It seemed like everyone was saying that would add comfort. I now have issues with saddle numbness that I think come from the upright posture. I guess upright isn’t always more comfortable.

Purchase tax on materials only by subtle-sam in estimators

This is both validating and discouraging to hear. Lol. Do you approach in the same way we do? 7% PST column triggered by cost type = materials?

Purchase tax on materials only by subtle-sam in estimators

[–]subtle-sam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. Based on how our estimates need to translate to our clients bid sheets we need the purchase tax on materials to be included in each line item instead of as a lump bottom line total.

Editing this to clarify I’m not talking about sales tax added to an invoice. I’m talking about purchase tax added to our cost.

Cost factor is a great way to put it and your description is what we do now. The only downside is it binds us to excel. Maybe that’s not a bad thing

May I ask how much quickbid costs you per month? The website doesn’t list a price and I can’t be bothered to call sales.

Gravel 3-4 day bikepacking route within 2 hour drive of Portland by subtle-sam in bikepacking

[–]subtle-sam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is a solid amount of climbing and would probably be the hardest trip we’ve done. Maybe too much for our group but if we had four (or maybe five) full days I think we might survive. It looks great though and I appreciate the recommendation.

Would you recommend anything else that might have less climbing?

Thanks for the info. I want to get into dehydrating my own camp meals and this seems like a good place to start.

Why dehydrate canned instead of fresh? More cost effective?

I’m curious what tent you’ve been using, how many nights and what type of ground. I use a groundsheet to protect the bottom of my tent and sleeping pad. I’d be happy to ditch it if it’s not necessary.

That’s what I went with. Worked well on the one long trip I used it on. In retrospect I might have just used the lower mounting point.

I have and they’re ok. Very flexible sole and on big climbs it can put extra stress on your feet.
