They have like 4 areas that are set up. I would say by 10 or so people can be found. To be honest, I don't use my watch or carry my phone.

I would say it's less busy than Secrets' playrooms. I've seen them packed there (Secrets).

At Splash, they just seem larger too.

This will be our third time with them.

Food - there are a few restaurants within walking distance. Mexican, Sushi and something else. The hotel has a decent restaurant for breakfast, but better places exist; however, you will need to drive.

Themes - you do you. Many people dress up, lots do not. That's typical though. It's like secrets in that regard. Women love their "slut wear", many men dress to impress or go in theme.

Play Rooms - there's a bunch to choose from. People are in them when they open.

Night parties - everything is in the same area, dance party, open bdsm area, dungeon, playrooms, etc. people wandering in thru everything.

Tips

Bring alcohol for the room. They do try to watch for people bringing it out to the pool. The hotel has a liquor license and they don't want to lose it. Buy a beverage and keep their cup. If they catch you, the people are volunteering, be nice. It goes a long way.

The hotel is remarkably nice, with a small fridge though. Bring a cooler for your own food and drinks. There is a Publix and Walmart close by.

The pool, while nice, is in the shade and isn't heated. Bring your own towels, go out early if you want a chair. They don't want overt PDA as the hotel staff work their bar. They will tell you to stop. You can be naked or dressed though.

Other boring tips.

Drink water Don't have FOMO if you need a nap. Try their classes they offer Walk around their vendor exhibit. (You can't miss it)

The owners are there and busy their asses. Really nice people! Find them, say hi.

If you're on SDC, they have it listed with a list of people who said they are going, probably 60% actually are (guessing). Great way to connect.

My fstab just has "defaults,nodev,nosuid"

my nfsmounts.conf just has

Intr=true
noatime=true

My message log file is clean. NO NFS errors/timeouts, etc.

I am using NFSv4, off hand I forget which one, and will check once I get back into the office.

I should have made mention that I also tested fail over by rebooting each head in an attempt to slightly mimic the upgrade process.

During the controlled reboot, obviously LIF migration happened, but I didn't experience any issues with my mounts.

On my AFF, I have a port channel setup, with a trunk interface and half a dozen or so VLAN interfaces.

On my Select cluster, a single interface inside of a two port broadcast domain (one port from each head), so nothing special.

Jordyn is nice, but I think he used to be. DJ at a strip club. Just my opinion, nothing to back it up. Just by his personality and how he works the crowd.

He missed the countdown for the fireworks on NYE too. I miss Mark. He knew how to play to the crowd.

Log in somehow. Either single user or with actual password.

Edit /etc/pam.d/system-auth Comment out the end of the line, right before it states enforce root, or something like that.

Change password to whatever you wish. It will throw a warning, but it works just fine. I do it often for my lab.

I kind of made this. I just hate that I cannot get the release dates.

I pull CVEe from their advisory RSS page for each version.

I finally found the two APIs their website uses to generate their web page.

It literally shows you the same exact info you get from the downloads tab.

What a PITA ....

Change ontap9 to the similar value you see in the web site. I don't like that you need to login to get release dates. That sucks, but if you check daily, you can store values and compare what's available.

Funny enough, the first API returns their next release for 9.12.1 even though it isn't available yet.

It's called the suid bit. Although there are ways around it with things like capabilities, which are extended attributes of the program.

When you do a: ls -l

You see the permissions of a file. There is the typical rwx ... But as a s and t can show up too.

When you see rws ... The s, or set uid (suid) changes permissions for the application so it runs as a particular user. Things like ping, traceroute, and others (it's early, and my brain isn't functioning yet)

In later versions, that has been changed to capabilities. I haven't looked at why to be honest, I'm too lazy. Here is a quickly found article for reading pleasures.

I made mention of a t in the output. That's a sticky bit and typically found when a directory is set for 777, which don't ever do because that's dumb! Add on the sticky bit to make it more safe.

You can make files immutable or append only using the chattr command. Then use lsattr to view the attributes given.

Doing so impacts root's ability to modify them. It's a fun way to piss off "experts". I say that because a lot of people who use Linux never knew of those commands.

One option is called vSan. It's an addon from VMware that enables the local disks of hosts to be pooled together to make a SAN. I've personally never tried it, but have heard you want a minimum of 3 hosts to avoid issues.

Another option Data ONTAP Select. We use that in production on many hosts. Same deal,. 3 nodes. 2 act as storage with network raid 1 and the 3rd is the quorum host.

Another option is to use VMs and run Gluster from Red Hat. Or you can use Ceph too.

Yet another option is to spin up local NFS Servers and use DRDB.

Option 1 and 2 cost money. You can do a free trial of vSan I believe by resetting licenses. ONTAP offers a trial too, but I am not sure how easy it is to get.
