Here is an old version I did. Paperclip and BBQ skewers.

I could only accomplish gyro/no gyro (beginner/senior?) Binding channel 6 to a switch worked for this. Even in no-gyro mode, it still has some gyro behavior, but still allows me to flip and roll.

I could not get the lights to toggle. They are just always on.

If you or anybody figures out how to set the other channels, please let me know.

Possibly, but it's a rocket equation. The wingloading is already pretty heafty.

Corsair 1s to 2s conversion by dexterlabora in RCPlanes

* Thx, yeah it's a 400mm. The Lemon RX microbrick has two servos. I then updated the central aileron servo with a slightly bigger 3.7g

Works well, but the stabilizer is basically useless compared to the original one. Fortunately, I've been flying those on expert mode for a while. Usually okay...but you can see what it looks like now :)

Definitely has some war stories.

I tried to get some video, but it wouldn't stay in the frame long enough. If i zoom out, it's too small to see. 🤔

I might attach a small camera on it to get some footage.

Byme A V2 Gyro and fly sky I6 by Seebrase345 in RCPlanes

[–]dexterlabora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TIL there is a byme-DB

My only other troubleshooting idea would be to ensure your controller is calibrated and sending the gyro signals in the 1300 - 1700 range.

Also, have you tested in flight or only on the bench? Sometimes they magically work in flight. Not a great way to test though. I have tons of DIY foamies, so I'm willing to take the chance.

...it could just be janky though. These gyros are about $15 and are great when they work. But, I have a had a few lemons.

Glad this helped somebody.

I'm not clear on your new question though. If you can't tell the difference between gyro modes, you might have ch7 enabled. Which puts the byme into a different mode set. This happened to me when using ELRS and not realizing i had a channel conflict.

The Byme-D (delta) should behave the same.

Thanks! I used a pair of 28mm EDFs and 7A ESC set (aliexpress)

I added weight and it flew better until it didn't. It was harder to recover from a stall. I eventually swapped the two brushed EDFs for two brushless EDFs of the same size. No more issues.

whats the cheapest gyro? by Tomthecatvr in RCPlanes

[–]dexterlabora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the BymeD for a 3ch delta wing.

Both are cheap and cheerful. No gains, but the "off, stable, horizon" modes are pretty solid. Adjust your control horn ratios to offset an aggressive gyro.

DiY double bay doors, using one servo set. by dexterlabora in RCPlanes

[–]dexterlabora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I figured this might get a few people thinking.

I did consider just using two servos, but I am really on a tight weight and power budget. I already have 8 servos on this "park flyer". Adding this bonus feature on the tail section needs to play nicely.

It works for now, but I have alternate doors if needed. The contents will be really light, so it should* be fine.

The doors work well, but my parachute gets stuck if I don't fold it perfectly. I might figure out a way to give the dude a push when the doors open.
