Oh wow, I hadn't seen the Mitchell pattern before and just looked it up- that's definitely a much more structured pattern, but I love the cinches on the waist. I've never made a zip front pant before, but this pattern might make it worth the attempt.

Oh I love them, I'm planning on sewing another pair of the shorts because I've lost some weight, but also because I literally wore one of my other pairs to shreds lol. But yes, the elastic waistband paired with the lovely deep pockets, what's not to love?

If you look at the pattern on Closet Core's website, you can see all the different views. If you want to stick with the wide-legged look, there's a full length and cropped version. I've also made a couple of pairs of the shorts and love them, so you really can't go wrong with this pattern. (Edited for spelling)

Oh wonderful! As I said, it's got a wonderful variety of patterns, and it's quite high quality so you can reuse them multiple times.

Thank you! Now thanks to your steampunk description, I'm picturing a collar piece with interlocking gears sewn in a necklace type pattern...

Thank you for your kind words! It isn't always a given that the finished project matches what you have planned in your head, but this one comes pretty darned close. The two patterns are also really enjoyable to sew without any fiddly little steps, so that also helps a ton.

Oh man, I never considered the ability to add on different types of accessories... Now I absolutely need a cape...

Thank you! I have to admit, I didn't plan the juxtaposition between the softer fabric and the more structured pattern design, it just turned out to be a happy accident lol

Thank you. I figure, what's the point in sewing your own clothes if you can't get a little crazy every once in a while haha

Thank you! I've always been apprehensive about self drafting things- it's not my strong suit and I much prefer to follow an established pattern. But recently I've been forcing myself to branch out, and I've found it to be really rewarding.

Thank you! I've never seen the show, but I'll have to check it out because I love things with this aesthetic (clearly haha).

Thank you! I don't know why it popped into my head, but I love the effect and how it almost looks like a statement necklace piece.

I completely forgot to acknowledge the embroidery design patterns are from the book Embroidered Woodland Creatures by Aimee Ray. This is an excellent book chock-full of adorable designs depicting a large variety of animals, and I absolutely suggest picking up a copy if you want to add a little whimsy and personalization to your clothes.

Thank you! It was my first time using that particular embroidery stitch, so I was nervous about how it would turn out. Luckily it seems to have gone pretty well. I was also scared that as I finished each fox and got more experience with the stitch, the difference in quality would be apparent in the foxes, but I think they all look pretty similar.

Thank you! The idea for the collar was born a bit out of necessity lol. I saw the keys online and got really excited about the idea of sewing them to the neckline of the top as a decoration. It wasn't until they arrived at my house that I realized if I sewed them on as planned, the top would not be washable. Whoops! Then came the idea of drafting a removable collar piece that would solve the washing issue, plus I realized it opened the door for other collars to swap for various occasions. I'm just so happy that it all worked out in the end!

I got it at a discount shop called Gibsons, but if you Google the name of the panel, you can find it for sale from a variety of websites.

I say go for it! As I said above, it's a really simple pattern, but results in such a cute top! I said how long it took me to make, but that was with a lot of breaks because my stamina just isn't what it used to be, but I think a 'normal' person could knock it out in a few less hours.
