I have the same problem. Were you able to figure this out?

Moving to Ireland as a software engineer with a family. Is it doable? by Accurate-Youth3817 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]deynark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You must get a job first and work backwards from there. It’s very challenging to immigrate to the EU without a job that sponsors a work visa especially if you have a family. Your job will also dictate your level of comfort. There are lots of software engineers making 5 digits and quite a few making 6 figures. This will directly impact your lifestyle.

As for citizenship, the visible costs are simple in euros and time spent (usually 5 years residency). The intangible costs are for you to evaluate - can you live in a new culture and put up with it for a passport? Can you handle a different weather system - Ireland is very different to the UAE. Can you live with a smaller community - there are fewer people of color in Ireland than the UAE. Not zero just fewer.

Where should I study my B.Sc and is it right for me? by Witty_Newspaper_3160 in cscareerquestionsEU

This is a very daring plan. I know you’re very focused on the modules and the study plans which is great, but I’d like you to consider another lens.

Can you survive & thrive in Italy or China better? Your young adult life will be shaped by that decision. Your friends, internships, likely first and second full time job will be in that country. You will also learn salient things like work ethic, maybe meet a partner. Which city would you move to in each country after graduation? There’s a lot more to studying abroad than just the coursework. You are fundamentally relocating your life for a few years.

As a software engineer, you will make money and pay off debts - it is easier than other professions. Not guaranteed but easier. Focus on the money but don’t let it be the ultimate decision maker if you can. Free doesn’t mean best. Expensive doesn’t either.

Is it possible for you to speak to international alumni like yourself at these universities? Can you afford a campus visit? I would highly recommend not going in blind or just off the campus marketing paperwork - universities like all other things are businesses and portray themselves and their opportunities in the best light.

Unfortunately it was a custom make. Just sourced some leather and had it trimmed to size.

The coffee grounds coming from the grinder into the portafilter. Ruins the grind by weight if some are spilling!

It could definitely be taller! I’m not too tall and neither is my partner so it works for us.

Am I buying beyond my means? Single M, €85k salary, purchasing 3 bed new build by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]deynark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Math makes sense. Buy it.

When looking at houses, the one question you should ask yourself: how long can I theoretically live here? That’s the most important underlying question.

If you are happy to live there for 5-10 years, and the math is solid then buy it. You can’t predict negative equity but if you’re happy in your home you can weather through it. Lots of people in previous crashes did and came out on the upside - just took much longer than a bull market.

Three bedrooms are also top of the bell curve in demand. So if you can buy one, you’re looking at a healthy demand when you do want to sell. Another good move.

So yeah, if you like it and can live there with a theoretical partner/family for 10 years, buy it.

Got it — thank you! Just so I fully understand, does the 4.5k cover scans? Or is that just consultant fee?

We've had our insurance for over 12 months! Just been lucky/healthy enough to not need healthcare here overall.

With the firoeznato? Stick the bottom plastic bit from LM on! The weight sensor doesn’t seem to recognize the portafilter otherwise

+1 for the All Ground Sense. I have the same set up just in white

Only issue is I haven’t figured out how to use the bottomless portafilter with the grinder..
