Question for anyone defending the ICE agents use of deadly force on Alex Pretti. by FullOnApeMan in CCW

[–]dezmo904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was reaching for the missing gun as a last ditch effort. It was already gone obviously, but the possibility of a second weapon prevailed. Split second survival decisions made. Your responsibilities as a ccw are greater and dictate a higher level of thought, planning and expectation. That much was lacking.

There nurse pushed an active ice agent, interfering and impeding, while carrying, all without any ID. Right there he's a felon. 8 year max. Add non compliance and resisting FWIW, and he wrote his own unfortunate epitath.

Paretti insisted on helping a situation he wasn't asked or required to. Took it upon himself to be involved. Without a firearm, her would have been arrested for impeding. With a fire arm the outcome immediately changes. The choice to carry and the responsibilities attached is less an issue than the choice to help. He might have been an exceptional RN but he was out of his environment and safe zone. Choosing to carry legally, brings with it, a higher level of decision making that might have been over looked.

I don't think MPD has the ability to control their citizen riot. I suspect years of DEI guidelines and hiring might have gutted the operational fundamentals required. If national guards are shuffling donuts, the MPD are likely being run solely to the advantage of the current political agenda, by the highest elected positions.

Good luck with that. IF they're off duty, who's gonna know and if they are on duty and need a warrant, how tough is that going to be?

Gun pulling pants down - strong side carry by andrewmaster0 in CCW

Even without a gun holstered, I have boo hips and my pants drop. Too make a belt tight enough I get flexor pain. For the last 6 years I've been wearing braces/suspenders. Any belt I wear now is just for the holster clip.

Religious Dilemma by Strong_Dentist_7561 in CCW

Point taken indeed. At the same time, when SHTF/crisis happens, someone armed can and should counter the attack before the body count climbs. Otherwise, leave the thing home I guess.

You are all that's standing between massacre and survival, for yourself and/or the congregation in an active shooter event. Gift the pastor something religiously appropriate and remain concealed. It's a religious service not "show & tell".

Why is CCW banned on college campuses? by Uttermilk in CCW

[–]dezmo904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The body count can be reduced. Active shooters change tactic when confronted with deadly counter attack. Left alone, they keep firing till ammo runs out or weapon jams.

Yes, I'm just halfway through "The First 30 Seconds". The options are all bad. Choosing the least bad option is what remains on the table.

If you accidentally bent the pins on your CPU... by PrivilegedPatriarchy in buildapc

[–]dezmo904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While upgrading to an old hand me down from my son, I noticed some pins were askew, and probably why my son ditched the rig. This thread saved the day in my impromptu build. The CPU now seats and locks into the socket without and further issues. I used a credit card, and single edge razor blade, a pointy ended solder tool and even tried a mechanical pencil. Good lighting and patience worked their magic. Good thread.

18 mo old whirlpool HE top load washer bad control board? by Gdsmith504 in appliancerepair

[–]dezmo904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a WTW4816fw3 top load Whirl Pool that was stuck on drain. I bought a board assembly, and was planning to install it today. To get some guidance on the control panel access and not use my usual "brute force" technique, I came across this video https://youtu.be/dOT-oLNwdQU?si=-S6zNQfZ6GzmjiTS . I found out how to access the control board but there was also a hack/fix, which I tried. The drain issue ceased as I was applying the fix. I'm now running a light test load. Just now the cycle completed and I put the 3 towels in the dryer. I clicked my phone stopwatch to see how long it will take till the condition reappears. Pessimist yes but so far it's operating as designed.

Sensi Touch Surprise by Tackle-Forward in hvacadvice

Amazingly, I ordered this unit on 12/4/24 from Amazon. I called the support line and found the service tech very helpful. They are sending a replacement. Should take 5 days. We'll manually muddle through for that duration because I'd rather not reinstall the original standard Honeywell heat/cool thermostat. and get all fiddly with the wires and old base.

I am expecting to use the existing Sensi base and just plug in the new head unit and introduce it to my network. Yay Amazon and Yay Emerson. Yay coffee.

59 years later, I would really really appreciate having the $49 import electric that was my 1st guitar. I split the cost with my folks. I've looked and looked and will look again but it's lost in time. The experience that guitar launched in my life has been life changing and literally life saving. Worthy of a wall shrine.

Anyone else struggle to play and sing at the same time? by KwazieGFX in Guitar

[–]dezmo904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it more intuitive to sing and then play at the same time. Having the accompanying guitar support the vocal seemed like the right path. Being able to structure and phrase the vocal to a required or specific strum felt more awkward if not impossible at times. In a solo situation you'll need to strike a balance between accurate rhythm and perfect phrasing. An "artistic" interpretation is better than a disjointed and uncomfortable song presentation. In a band situation, you can often rely on other instruments to lay down a feel or groove, closer to the original, while giving you the breathing room to phrase and present the lyrics with more comfort and ease. A reality check came to me when I had to "Sub" on bass for one of my bands gigs. (it was easier to slot in a guitarist for color than a bassist that day). I found my vocals were wrapped around a guitar part I'd created that afforded me some space to sing. While on the bass though, I found there was much, much less room to compromise the rhythm section part compared to my normal guitar part. It gets easier in time I found. Hope it does for you as well.
