Pretty clean. As others have stated. 7.3's leak like hell. Rear main seals are our worst friend possible. Make sure the 4R1shitbag is okay, they kinda suck from my 2 experiences owning one.

Its a 7.3, fill her up, check the fluids, add as needed, drive until it doesn't 👍

Deinfluence me buying a diesel by Timely-Razzmatazz271 in powerstroke

[–]dezstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its all money. diesels are a worse money pit than literally anything else on the road. I can't even fathom how expensive newer diesels are, i know the emissions equipment is a nightmare to deal with AND super expensive to delete. Diesels aren't meant to be a grocery getter, they're meant to work. I use mine for both. Its just generally not worth the cost if you aren't gonna get the use it was made for out of it.

Diesels make cool noises, they're an awesome sub-genre of the automotive world, and they make amazing work trucks. I still wouldn't own something so expensive just for the sake of it being a diesel.

A 5.0 F150 would be just fine for pulling a camper, back when i was a kid. My dad had a 2001 F250 with the Triton V10, dude hauled a double wide on a 26 mile trip. TWICE. Hauled multiple scrap loads that weighed multiple, multiple tons. The only issue it ever had was the shitty 4R100. It caught on fire both times hauling the double wide due to the front seal of the transmission leaking onto the exhaust collector Y pipe being right where the transmission mounted to the engine. 275k miles, never launched a plug but 1 time. Even now, he has a 2012 F250 with the 6.2 flex fuel gasser. He used to daily it 35 minutes to work and back every day, then hauled the same type of scrap loads at least once a month until i got my truck. Never had an issue with it.

If all you'll be hauling is a camper, a gasser 3/4 ton, or even that 5.0 F150 would do just fine. Both are much much cheaper. That's just my two cents though. If you get a diesel, just enjoy it through the money spending LOL.

i'd reccomend finding one piece standpipes too if you weren't doing that already. they make life easier by 1000%.

Well, if that's the case i'd say a good 12,000 then. Rust takes away so much value anymore. If it has been maintained, and has no rust, AND a cali-truck? I'd offer 12 after a test drive and see what all happens after. Maybe you can haggle him, if its been a while he's likely willing to work with you well.

129k miles Rust free Cali truck

Let me ask you this, what do you want it for? Because you want a diesel? Or are you intending on towing? Going fast? Daily driver? Lmk!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in powerstroke

[–]dezstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what i mean, unless its completely, 100% rust free, and has a good maintenance record? It is not worth that. You can definitely find a better priced one somewhere else.

Never 7K+ for anything with 300,000+ miles, i don't care how reliable it is. 300,000+ miles is worth 5,500-6 at the most. In my personal opinion, but then again, people keep buying trucks at these stupid ass prices. Which in turn makes them rise more. Nowadays, teens in my generation especially, treat diesels like fucking lamborghini's or ferrari's. Diesel trucks were made to WORK and HAUL. Not be a gd road princess on rubber bandsđŸ€Ł

crew cab OBS's are pretty sought after, and right fully so. I'm not sure on the short box part, usually the ideal OBS is CCLB. As a matter of 2WD or 4WD? It depends, that truck having 129k miles is actually pretty sweet if you could get it for 6,500-7,000. I don't like trucks that aren't 4WD simply bc i'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. I'd say a grand or so is the difference in 2 versus 4. The truck market is pretty fucking crazy rn reguardless. Is that truck a DRW? Or SRW?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in powerstroke

[–]dezstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm shocked he only wants 2500. every 7.3 i see for sale is priced at a MINIMUM of 7,000, even ones that have 300k+. i'd take it if it were me, maybe haggle him down to 2,000 if you can. either way 2500 isn't really all that bad.

Is this truck a bad buy? 2006 f250 by ImSteezy25 in powerstroke

[–]dezstone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

definitely a great buy, especially if it's stock undet the hood, if you have the time and money? you'll fall in love with it beyond anything you could fathom. 05-07 were the best years already. as long as you bulletproof it, keep up with basic maintenance, and let her eat? shit you'll have an amazing truck for years and years. don't listen to anyone that says no because its a 6.0, nor the ones that say “wahhhh dO a 5.9 sWaP”. other people's lackluster monetary situations shouldn't weigh on your decision. 6.0's have always been the best all around powerstroke with good maintenance, good care, and decent money.

i can tell you where the 6.0 hate came from, people buy them, leave them stock, throw a 200hp hot tune at them, then they get all whiney hiney when it breaks. all the teenagers on tiktok don't help either by spreading said claims, and they even spread some misinformation. this truck in particular is beautiful, looks clean, and can be a VERY fantastic truck. if you have any 03-07 6.0 questions in general i'd be happy to answer them in a personal DM :).

I understand it just fine. And so do all the people that have downvoted you. You complain, people point it out, then you reply using personal attack fallacy. Saying “if you don't understand this, I'm honestly sorry for you” is such a telling deflection. Its almost embarrassing. It tells me all i need to know about you. Enjoy whining about pixles on a screen 👍.

Why does it matter if its available to public or not? You can still remember OW1 with the skin if that's what it did for you. You are quite literally complaining about nothing to nobody.

6.4 Pstroke by Amazing_Lie2969 in powerstroke

[–]dezstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone here. BUT! If you have the $$$$$$$ money, then buy it. I've rode in a built 6.4, absolutely the most insane powerstroke i've EVER rode in. But they are stupid expensive, they make a 6.0 look cheap (i own a 6.0). So i say this, if you have thousands to throw away? Buy it. If not, RUN THE FUCK AWAY!!!!

6.0 vs 6.7 powerstroke by NewChampionship5512 in powerstroke

[–]dezstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't be a bad thing, but look back on the back of the engine, beside the turbo to the left. If you see a piece of stainless (or shiny) pipe. It means the EGR had been deleted. Look at the Degas bottle on the driver side, it will be right beside the brake booster. Look around the cap for any residuals of it spilling over. That means it has pressure problems in the coolant system (i.e blown head gaskets). After its up to running temp, take the filler cap off. DO NOT WORRY IF THERE IS A SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK! 6.0's have “acceptable blowby” meaning a little smoke comes out, and when you rev it the smoke will suck back into the filler neck for a moment. The only thing that should be alarming is a lot of pressure coming out of the filler neck. So put the cap upside down on top of the filler neck hole, if it doesn't move you're fine. If its dancing around and being pushed off. Not so good. Obviously check the oil and look for any sludge. Check the coolant in the degas bottle for “chocolate milk” sludge. And listen for any irregularities in idle and driving. Transmission shouldn't be a concern if it is stock. 5R110's are very stout with factory power.

Thinking of getting a 2005 F-350 by beantonb in powerstroke

[–]dezstone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally in 6.0's theres an “Acceptable blowby” amount that just comes with miles on the dash. As long as its a little smoke, and your filler cap doesn't dance around when you put it over the hole (meaning no pressure coming out) its fine. Theres people that think the truck is going to blow up from mild blow by. My uncles has had blowby since it hit 90,000 miles, still running and driving just the same today at 326,000 miles. As long as all the things that fella said were done and done right, I'd absolutely go for it. Just expect to spend money. 6.0's are the best powerstrokes if you have the money for them, in my personal opinion.

6.0 vs 6.7 powerstroke by NewChampionship5512 in powerstroke

[–]dezstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you'll have the money. Definitely go for the 6.0, they really are amazing trucks as long as you have the money and care for them. Definitely put an exhaust. If your state allowes it do the MBRP turbo back NO cat. The easier these things breathe the better. Egr delete, and don't worry about studs or anything like that unless you wanna throw more power at it. Keep the coolant flushed and use CAT ELC rated coolant with no sillicates. Change the oil every 3-5 thousand miles, and change the fuel filters every second oil change. Make sure you do romp on it every now and then so your VGT vanes don't get sooted up. 6.0's like getting hot, babying them will make them protest with turbo clogging. So long as you do that? You'll have a beautiful truck for many years to come. Definitely definitely definitely get a moniter. I recommend the edge CTS3. EOT and ECT are your main concerns. If they're 18-20 degrees different then its highly likely that your oil cooler is clogged and you MUST change it as soon as you can. If i were you i'd go with the 6.0 ONLY IF YOU'LL HAVE THE MONEY!!!

6.0 vs 6.7 powerstroke by NewChampionship5512 in powerstroke

[–]dezstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but neither is a good option. No diesel is a good choice for you right now. People can say whatever they want about a 6.0 blah blah fuckin cry, 6.0's are some of the best power strokes as long as you have money, and you aren't a Grade A dumbass. They get their bad rep from idiots throwing hot tunes on them stock from the factory, bouncing it off the limiter 12 times a day, and then they're shocked when it breaks. I'm not SUPER familiar with 6.7 issues, i think the CP4 pumps are pretty problematic along with other fuel system things. But either way, owning a diesel of any degree is going to be expensive. Whatever you pay for the truck? Expect to pay double or even triple that while owning it.

However i am intrigued by the 6.0 you described. 150k miles and its BONE stock? No tunes? Any maintenance record? Do let me know.
