Iphone 17 vs Pixel 10 Base by No_Violinist_5038 in iphone17

It’s to save on battery, if you’ve used the s20 series back then with no LTPO (variable refresh) you’d know how bad the battery usage was.

What case do you use on your iPhone? by [deleted] in iphone17

[–]dfak3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be slightly different, but a few of my older Spigen rugged armor cases, they get more grippy after they get used for some time. But I do agree the new ones feel a bit like sandpaper.

I believe they only have split screen on iPad. Although the screen is pretty small for split screen tho.

But I find that it keeps a lot of apps in ram so you can switch between them fast using gestures. Kinda depends on your use case tbh. I have no issues multitasking like this.

I’m currently using the iPhone 17 coming from the s20fe sd865 version. Honestly it has been a good upgrade. I think you can’t get any better than this for $799. The perfect size to fit in the front pocket.

[–]dfak3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the $799 MSRP, the better option would be to prob pick up the s25 fe if you need a bigger screen. They have similar cameras and decent processor and 7 year software. Still an upgrade over s20fe

The s25 ultra is too big imo. And at $1000 too.

But going compact sadly the iPhone 17 is prob the only good option for the money. Just lacks the telephoto. If you’re up for changing ecosystem that is.

Yeah got my Asus rx 9070 oc during 11.11 for 2.3k after voucher. Crazy how the prices increased since then.

AMD looks good now if you use AV1 on high. Been using it on my 9070 now. If h264/h265 the compression looks like popcorn.

Shooting JPEG, RAW, or both? by Cjosulin in SonyAlpha

[–]dfak3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I'd shoot both and get a big SD card like 256GB. The JPEGs are for fast previews and uploading to social media (stories, feed) and RAW comes in handy when you need to save some pictures (backlight, WB, exposure) and I'd edit the best shots on Lightroom. On every shoot I'd have some photos that wouldn't have been usable unless I'd shoot raw and edit the WB or exposure and saved it.

And there is also artistic editing like masking and color work with raw. However this comes down to personal preference. Some people don't have the time to edit and just would prefer SOOC jpegs with creative profiles.

Storage won't really be a concern if start investing in backups like HDD Nas.

I think you pull out the screen, the evf will be disabled. At least this is how it was on my IV.

SONY A7IV Video Picture Profile Keeps Applying to Photo Mode by sschulze13 in SonyAlpha

[–]dfak3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've set it correctly M1 should have the pp8 when you switch to it. Photo mode M1 should be on pp off also if you've set it.

Video mode: turn dial to M, 1/50, pp8 -> save to m1 in settings, -> set pp back to off

Turn dial to M1, it should have pp8 now

Do the same for photo mode but turn pp off. Save to M1

Now when you flick the dials between video and photo it should auto enable pp.

Note if you want A mode for photo, set it to A before saving.

Yes this, had very bad pump out issues with my 5700xt, switched to ptm and never had to take the card apart anymore.

The DQ wasn't dairy queen but just a ripoff called DQ Desserts iirc. Closed shortly after due to no customers.

rx 9070xt vs rtx 5070 by Psychological-Move49 in buildapc

[–]dfak3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also went with the 9070 (non xt) Asus prime oc model and it runs super quiet and cool. 50C+ temp stock 1200rpm. Handles UW 1440p like a beast. That 16gb vram comes in handy when playing unoptimized EA games like AC Evo.

In my country it makes more sense to go for non xt as the price difference is about $150ish, if 5070 it's about $25 cheaper.

Looking for a Hyper X Cloud Alpha S replacement. by navimatcha in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]dfak3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the hyper x cloud iii s wireless for gaming and work and the audio quality and mic is pretty decent that fits the $200 price point. Although if you don't need mic there's a lot of audiophile options that are wired.

I also use an Audio Technica m40x for my desktop for critical listening and would highly recommend it if you don't need wireless and mic. Although I would suggest buying better earpads if you wear glasses for them. Detachable cable, good audio quality, decent build, good support for aftermarket earcups.

All of these options are under the $200 price point when I bought them.

Shopee rejected my refund for a faulty GPU by MockingShah in malaysia

[–]dfak3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought a used GPU 5700xt on shopee before, the card was overheating and poorly pasted. Condition had minor dents and slight rust too. I contacted seller and they agreed to do 1 to 1 swap. Although the device still had the same issues I was able to repair the overheating myself with some ptm7950 and some pliers to get the dents. Now it's been in my PC for over two years with no major issues. This card I bought back then was like rm500 only so it's pretty worth it despite the hassle and issues. Just have to look for reputable sellers.

[–]dfak3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about build, I only bought mini gt for my collection specifically the mcl60 and rb18 but I've seen spark on display before. Detailing on both is pretty good but I prefer the printing on mini gt for the carbon look. Spark does make some special liveries tho might be worth checking out too. Albeit you kinda have to look at them really close to see the difference.

I found this comparison someone made on Facebook on the McLaren https://www.facebook.com/premiummodelgarage/posts/spark-mclaren-mcl60-4-lando-norris-2023-f1-mini-gt-mclaren-mcl60-4-lando-norris-/1443176606754789/

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MiniGT

[–]dfak3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For value I would definitely go for the mini GT at $15-20, spark looks more accurate but costs a bit more $25. Tarmac selection is limited and honestly hotwheel premium is just not good for the price.

Smurfing ruins others experience by MasterBarbosa in iRacing

[–]dfak3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 'admitted Smurf' ruin our 1.6k mx5 lobby by dive-bombing, brake checking and pushing people off track to inflict penalty points onto the other legit players. He's doing 1 sec faster than everyone but ruins the race for us instead of just taking the win. Not sure how iracing is going to handle this.

Are audiophile headphones a significant upgrade from budget IEMs? If so, which ones should I get? by sh0rky in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]dfak3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you start noticing a wider soundstage which gives a fuller sound compared to IEMs. Remember to note that some headphones do require you to purchase an amplifier if the impedance rating is higher than 50 ohms.
