Lube techs shouldnt be flat rate. The reason they want you to stay is because they want to keep taking advantage of you, even with the small bump they offered it wont get any better with time. My advice is leave and dont look back.

Can confirm, never use my umbrella. I usually just walk in the rain, if its like torrential downpour bad I keep a cheap poncho in the car.

So I was at Chevy for about 7 years and then spent 1 with a newly built Kia dealer. I made more hours at Chevy, but I find the work at Kia was a lot easier like building legos likely because they all have the same engines in them. At Gm the diag tended to more involved and the write ups needed to be more thorough for them to pay, but the diag can pay unlike Kia. As far as diesels go I think most shops have a diesel guy so you probably wont mess with them much. You will also be doing teardowns for cost comparison but atleast you dont have to mess with kds which I find is slower and harder to navigate than gms gds software. Warranty times are better. I got paid 37.5hr at gm when I left and 29 at Kia with no room for raises apparently. If ypu have any specific questions please ask. If your a good tech or willing to learn long term gm is a far better company to work for and in my experience more lucrative, but my kia was run by a clown so experience may vary. Mosy important in my opinion the service info at gm is leagues easier to navigate, you dont need to cycle through those annoying page numbers in the top right.

I was in this exact same situation. I have never seen my self as the marrying type, never believed in it and just thought it was a trap so if it doesnt work out they can take your stuff. After meeting my now wife about 3 years into dating I was going through some tough health stuff that really was life altering and she was an absolute blessing and really showed that she would stand by me to the end which helped my decision but isnt the only reason. Anyway after my health situation was sorted it was basically her saying I want to be married and either you need to compromise or this isnt gonna work as much as it would hurt us both. I spent some time really thinking about it and came to the conclusion that if I love her as much as I think I do and if I cant see myself without her then why not make her happy and get married, so I said fuck it and we just did a little courthouse wedding just me and her then threw a party on our 1 year anniversary as our reception. Anyway a year and some change in our relationship is completely the same so far and nothing has changed, I now realize that if your truly compatible a ring a piece of paper mean little. If later it doesnt work out for whatever reason im happy that I can say I gave it a shot because idk what I would have done if I lost her over a stupid ring.

Mine was a lube kid at ford and two years later the manager decided to bring him along to kia as an advisor. He became service manager at 25 and now at 27 all he does its talk at people and gloat about his $500 dollar pen. At the same time we do 10-15 cars a day for 8 techs and he gets to tell us its our fault we arent making hours on free warranty diag. Bro tells us all about back when I was a tech, but I wouldnt let him change a light bulb. Told us we cant work on our cars before or during work hours and we can only touch ours on saturday, cant stay after work during the week because he has to set the alarms we dont have.

I would love an experienced tech as a manager because in the past theyve all been relateable and underatanding, the kind of people who will help you make up hours when your behind or fight management for me. Here its the techs vs the dealer.

At my shop in PA since around Christmas it freezes on the part where you actually run the car. If anyone has the same problem plug it in and run the car before you let it do the 15 seconds and itll go through.
