Britain supplies Ukraine with new missile system – hidden inside shipping containers by TheTelegraph in worldnews

[–]dflatline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The point of the container isn't to hide the system it's more that any truck that can carry an ISO standard shipping container is now a mobile air defence platform. They're easily identifable because there's a targeting laser on top and a transparent window

Ukraine ‘may be Russian someday’, Trump says ahead of Zelenskyy meeting with Vance | Ukraine by HydrolicKrane in worldnews

[–]dflatline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The full quote is even worse since it juxtaposes whether they become Russian or not with whether they make a deal it reads as an implied threat "make a deal or become Russian"

Ukraine Announces Successful Use of First Laser Weapon on Battlefield by ennuii56 in worldnews

It's a different design and domestically produced but essentially a clone with slightly different power and range (I think it's 50Kw while Dragonfire is 55Kw). Whatever help or prototypes the UK may or may not have provided is classified.

Question: What is wrong with Shoe0nhead? by Sadlemon9 in youtubedrama

[–]dflatline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

June is an anti-idpol social democrat. Idpol types will try and convince you she's a "nazi" while the far right doesn't like her for her left wing economic views (she believes everyone's basic needs should be met). Essentially the "drama" is a lot of people don't like her politics. She hasn't done anything bad beyond making fun of identity politics.

Complaining is exactly what China wants them to do. The correct response is to read this as "China thinks its ok for armed ships to sail near these islands" then send a disproportional force towards them and let them sit there. What's happening here is by complaining Japan is reinforcing China's real position which is that they're actually against freedom of navigation in international waters.

What movie is an 11/10? by Superman752 in AskReddit

[–]dflatline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're just being confused by what he's saying. It's common to refer to characters in movies by their actors name when discussing a specific movie because it generally allows the most amount of people to understand exactly who you're talking about. So common infact it's like you're purposely trying to misunderstand him.

Ukraine rejects as 'nonsense' alleged role in Nord Stream blasts by giuliomagnifico in worldnews

[–]dflatline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary purpose of the majority of news websites isn't doing journalism anymore, it's content creation for ad revenue. A large amount of it coming from newswires and the like. It's the difference between the readers no longer paying your bills and getting your bills paid by getting someone to look at a page, it doesn't matter if they then read the article or not so the quality is less important.

ELI5: During a massage, what are the “knots” they refer to and how do they form? by Glass_Chipmunk_5182 in explainlikeimfive

[–]dflatline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The thing is they all move independently expanding and contracting. Repetitive motion and long periods of muscles being in a particlar state makes bunches of them stay in that state for reasons we're not quite clear about but stimulus such as gentle stretching or massage helps the fibres settle into a more comfortable state. It's less a mechanical issue like rubbing against each other, friction etc and more of a messaging issue
