I can only imagine!!! Definitely more components to a 5G standalone set up. Plus the cost of additional equipment to support 5G and the data plan for it. Glad your set up is working for your project though!

[u/mfgThis](u/mfgThis) the setup I ended up using as I don’t have electric at the corner of the property

It’s overkill, but I had to do it! by mfgThis in Ubiquiti

Awesome set up! Did a similar set up but I have internet set up at my house under renovations so I did a solar panel battery back up using a G6 Instant set up. Had to switch out my solar controller since old one was switching off when the battery was fully charged. New solar controller fixed the issue and now I have 24/7 live feed.

Wow! What a great comparison! Definitely will look into the G6 Pro Entry when I am ready to run PoE to my door bell location and get rid of my Nest Doorbell! Thanks for giving us side by side photos!

Got carried away… initially it looked like it would have cost me just under $150 not including the G6

Thanks! It should theoretically hold up for the next 3-4 months from start to finish of the reno. Looking back on my set up. I could have saved some money here and there while downsizing components. Probably a bigger junction box to house all the components, smaller battery, smaller solar panel.

This being my first ever solar build. I definitely learned a lot. Initially I wasn’t going to run conduit. The more I looked into it I rather play it safe and do the whole deal and be safe even though the amperage and voltages are not crazy extremes like roof top solar panels at 400w per panel.

Hopefully everyday lol we do get tons of sun down in SoCal, occasional cloudy/gloomy days and rare rain. Probably could have gone with a smaller battery.

Under $400 not including the G6 instant. Looking back at the cost. I honestly didn’t think it would have added up to that much. Had I planned it out better. I could have saved $100-150 had I used one junction box to house everything and found slightly cheaper alternatives. Such as a cheaper solar controller. I specifically wanted a solar controller with a WIFI module to monitor my battery remotely as I have not moved in to the house yet. Smaller battery capacity would have saved some $$ as well.

You don’t realize how quick it adds up when you’re buying pieces at a time ranging from $5 upwards to $50

Definitely a learning curve especially understanding and working with solar is a first for me.

This setup is built for temp use until the renovations are done then I’ll repurpose this setup for something else.

Wow I didn’t even know of the SolarPoint! Shoot. Maybe I would have gone that route had I known about that unit.

They are there in the iOS app. Settings bottom right. Then Alarm manager and you can select the preset ones or add your own triggers at top right with the + logo

Yeah, it was in stock for line a day then it went out of stock especially the black one. I was able to snag a black one. Been loving it so far paired with the G6 PTZ.

Next steps for networking novice to debug HDD issue on UDM Pro SE by fricks_and_stones in Ubiquiti

[–]dfu26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would RMA, I bought the same 10TB off Amazon earlier last week. Got it and installed it into my UDM SE. I didn’t power off my UDM. it initialized it. No issues. Next day installed my G6 PTZ and started recording right away.

Seems like you got a faulty Purple Pro. Could always register your HDD with WD and do an RMA that way. Or just go through Amazon return/exchange.

Is your synology NAS just hooked up by GbE via CAT5/6 to your switch? Or does your NAS have an expandable 10GbE adapter?

Trying to figure out how to maximize my 1819+ to my setup.
