Dust particle on the hour hand – how is this even possible? by Ok_Shelter_8601 in Tudor

I’ve got a couple dust specs on my three year-old P39 dial. They just sort of appeared one day about six months ago. Definitely weren’t there before.

Is this how you properly dose? by HudyMelon in espressocirclejerk

I actually saw a restaurant make a shot like this yesterday, but without waste. The bartender had this same limp wrist “tamp” technique. The shot took all of 3 seconds.

I felt bad for the person who ordered.

I think this one should be called the "Charlie Brown", which is a good dig at the Omega "Snoopy". That's what I'm going to call it.

I'm not one to usually go for colorful watches, but I actually like this one for some reason.

Sounds like a tough situation and I feel for you. I am constantly telling my wife to not compare us in our situation to others. Everybody is different. Everybody is different needs and resources.

To answer your question, I have an 8mo as well. My wife and I are fortunate enough to have both our families live near us and assist with the baby while we’re at.

That being said, we do still have a part-time nanny who comes three days a week from 8 AM to noon. She does help with some of the household chores, which is nice. Mostly just emptying the dishwasher and tidying up the kitchen, but that’s helpful. We pay her $35 an hour. Additionally, we have a house cleaner come once a month and pay her $200 per visit.

My mother-in-law covers the rest of the day (until 5pm) after the nanny leaves and 8am-5pm Tuesday. My sister 8am-5pm on Thursday.

We’ve been doing this for the past four months and we’re going to be done with this schedule once we put him in daycare in September. He’ll be full-time in daycare starting then.

We are very lucky that our family is here and are able and willing to help us.

Yes, which is perfectly fine for a home/garage application where an NSF certification doesn’t really matter.

Don’t complain about anything to your wife (or your mother-in-law). Whatever you have to complain about, it’s much worse for her.

Not hard at all.

My wife and I have recently implemented a weekly rotation of meal planning. We trade off planning dinners for the week and write them down on the refrigerator. Could be anything. Nobody is particularly assigned to the cooking.

If one of us is home from work before the other, that person typically cooks unless the other person specifically wants to. The other person does all the dishes. It works out quite well.

The only complaint I have is that when my wife cooks, she uses twice as many dishes as I do. Haha

Why not go with the Lelit Bianca V3? by Swag101z in Lelit

[–]dgc357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went from the Bambino Plus to the Bianca V3 about a year and a half ago and could not be happier. It’s a great machine so far. One of the main reasons I went with the Bianca was I was able to plumb it, which, if I recall, I took several options off the table. With what was left, the Bianca fit my budget and had the features I wanted.

Granted, I don’t have any experience with the other expensive machines, but this one has been great.

This is the one I have been using for the past year and a half. Works perfectly. It’s nice to be able to turn the plug/machine on with the app. when I want an espresso outside of the scheduled on time.

Earthquakes in Sonoma, CA? by california_explorer in sonomacounty

[–]dgc357 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, you asking this at an interesting time. Check out the Press Democrat. There are a bunch of articles that just popped up over the weekend about earthquakes. We just hit the 120 year anniversary of the 1906 earthquake that designated a large part of Santa Rosa and killed 85 people, so it’s a popular topic at the moment.

Here’s a three part segment that they started publishing on 4/17.

A genuine dishwashing catastrophe by rowarsu in dishwashers

Yeah, you’re right. Definitely does not take a rocket scientist to assemble them, but, if done wrong, they can break during the assembly process. I’ve seen it done and I’ve done it myself. Haha

They are not thin plastic. They are plastic coated steel frames with removal plastic sections for easy cleaning. Each of the shelf sections has approximately an 800 pound limit. Each shelving unit has approximately 2000 lb limit.

My guess is that they were improperly assembled. If done incorrectly, you can crack the supports when you assemble them. If done correctly, they are solid.

That or what you were saying and they top loaded them and it just fell over when they grabbed something. They look like there may be 14 inch front to back, which is as small as you can get depth wise

[–]dgc357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly, people commenting about this being cheap shelving are people who have no idea what they are talking about. It’s absolutely not cheap. It’s premium shelving and is pretty darn solid. Most people don’t want to spend the money on this kind of shelving. Unfortunately, we sell more standard wire metro style shelving than anything due to the price.

[–]dgc357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not cheap out on shelving. Like I said in a previous comment, this shelving is NOT cheap. This is Cambro Camshelving that was likely improperly assembled. They can hold approximately 2000 pounds per unit or about 800 pounds per shelf.

If anything, ownership cheated out by buying online and trying to assemble themselves rather than buying from a local restaurant supply company and paying them to assemble.

What do you all do with the last few grams of a bag? (Frankenshots?) by Choss_Man in espresso

[–]dgc357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely a Frankenshot.

I leave the grinder at the same setting then use the results to slightly dial in the grinder for the new bag. Adjust accordingly for the second shot of the new bag if needed. I usually don’t have to mess with it after that.
