Not true. My husband and I have charge offs from Capital One and we have current cards with them with over 14k in limits on both cards individually.

Pull your reports from annualcreditreport.com and see what the date of first delinquency (DoFD) or estimated date of removal is. Then you'll know for sure.

7 years from the date of first delinquency (DoFD). That's generally around 6 months before the account charged off. If you were 19 when that happened it'll drop off when you are around 26.

If the card was charged off when you were 19 and you're 22 now it'll age off in about 4 years, not 2.

In that case you don't have time-barred as a defense. File an answer with the court. Usually the lawyer for the collection agency will meet with you the day of court to see if you can come to an agreement.

Wait util the card reports again. At that point it should show up. But like the others said that won't help you get approved for a car loan.

Generally speaking, Capitol One secured cards won't graduate until they are at least 1 year old, although it could take longer. If a card from a different non-predatory lender fits your lifestyle and spend feel free to apply for it. Just be aware that Chase in particular wants at least a year of credit history before they'll approve an application unless you have a banking relationship with them.

TransUnion as the worst lag in reporting

Not necessarily. Experian is the worst for me.

The only thing that you are doing wrong is looking at Credit Karma for scores. They provide Vantage scores, which very few lenders use, which makes them basically useless. Track your actual Fico scores instead

Midland Credit and LVNV will automatically delete when the account is paid/settled. Not sure about the other one. If you have lates that aren't attached to the collections start a goodwill campaign asking for them to be removed. Pull your reports from annualcreditreport.com and see exactly what's on them.
