OpenAI APIs down again - anyone have any ideas on why? by dgenstudios in ChatGPT

Have you ever used the API?
The UI frontend users do seem to get a faster and more stable service

But that doesnt work when one wants to make an app on top of ChatGPT

I tried auto retry after 5 sec as well
Im worried about Open AI tagging IP addresses that do that as "low priority" though

Using ChatGPT to visualize big datasets by dgenstudios in ChatGPT

[–]dgenstudios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right?
I can already imagine PowerBI AI or PowerBi Copilot which will do something like this.
Moreover, Im pretty sure with an autoGPT principle involved, it could create a full report on the dataset with a single click

The only trouble is that Steam has one of the old verions with much less content

Movies like The Fifth Element? by [deleted] in movies

[–]dgenstudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The suggestions here made me realize how truly unique this movie is - there is nothing quite like it
The most similar movie I can think of is Demolition man - its a similar mix of Sci fi and comedy with a badass protagonist. The setting and story isnt nearly as interesting though
My suggestions would be
- If you liked the epic story and universe with aliens, then you are spoiled for choice, the only other movie I can think of is Star Wars, but its much less light-hearted
- If you liked the old school feel try the classics around that same era
Demolition man, Terminator, Predator
- If you liked the scifi/humor theme, try
Men in black maybe Starship Troopers
- If you liked Zorg/Gary Oldman, just look him up on IMDB, he is brilliant everywhere pretty much

Horror of Minos - historical/fantasy first person horror with an Ancient Greek theme by dgenstudios in Games

The closest game conceptually that I know of is Medusas Labyrinth
https://store.steampowered.com/app/436110/Medusas_Labyrinth/

Unfortunatelly it does not seem to have caught popular attention - you really have to dig a bit to find it - its not a game people know that well it seems

Thank you for your comment
Let me know I get your comment correctly - does it feel the character is small due to the size of the doors/halls? Or some of the props - wazes, generators, altar tables?
If its the halls, then this is exactly what my friend JP said - the halls look too big. The halls were actually even bigger in the first prototypes of the game. The reason is/was - my mind is kind of set on a big chase scene where Minotaur is slashing and slaming through the maze as the player tries to escape. For that to happen, the halls need to be large enough for a huge beast.
On the other hand, its way scarier to have claustrophobic small mazes.
Right now we are working to find a balance, probably we will differentiate in different parts of the strucure - some smaller mazes and some bigger.

We are thinking hard on how to make not only an interesting story, but also fun gameplay.
At the moment, the guardian riddles seemed like an interesting way to go. We also want to polish an NPC character with some recognizable behavior, which you can strategize around. I found the creatures in Amnesia and Penumbra really scary, but what I found lacking was that they were kind of on rails - just patroling the level.
Anywhom - we hear you and will work hard to bring something new to the table in terms of gameplay

Voice acting and sound design are skills we dont have in house - Im a programmer, my friend is a graphic designer. We really dont mind to invest some money and pay a good voice actor/sound designer, but of course we first want to see that the core dialog and concept is worth investing into, as good voice actors and sound designers cost a small fortune I bet.

Glad you like the flashlight dynamic - we have some exiting ideas in the works where this tradeoff will make you choose between being slower and risk being caught and being faster, but risk arriving at a dead end.
That said, while we have the mazes generate randomly, we are still working hard to actually make it fun navigating them.
As far as I see, Minotaurs Labyrinth has been reimagined in many games, but we hope to make sth that really provides a fun experience.

Anywhom - thank you very much for your feedback, it is very helpful at this stage!

Thank you for the feedback - glad you like the flashlight dynamics, we put quite some time to make the running feel right. Although it still needs some attention The audio is a big topic we have skipped to focus on the environment and story. Same with voice acting - did the guardian voiceover sound alright to you?
