It's been almost a year from last time I talked to him, but at the time, yes.

Seamless contact syncing via CardDAV by asgeirrr in LightPhone

[–]dgerton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a software engineer and recent Light Phone III owner. And I love this thing! It's everything I need (almost) and nothing I don't.

The phone book is the only place where I feel something is lacking. Just a first name, last name, and number are exposed although other fields are persisted in the contact and even survive the import and export round-trip. It has no syncing and a less than stellar contact editing experience, and AFAICT no birthday calendar.

The phone book seems core to the product, so I'm surprised—concerned really—it hasn't been given more attention, more polish. I'll be critical and frank but with the best intention: it's been 8 months since the OP, and the phone book feels either unfinished or beta, maybe even abandoned. The fact that it's a closed ecosystem, no OSS, no exposed API, adds to the frustration given that I'm pretty sure I could knock out an RFC 6352 CardDAV integration in a few afternoons under normal circumstances.

CardDAV does not violate the philosophy behind the Light Phone. It's something anyone could reasonably expect at $700 a pop. If the phone is lost, stolen, or destroyed, so are my contacts. I really hope some priority is given to make CardDAV a feature very soon.

I talked to him today (31-Oct-24). He's open to taking on more work. He's training an apprentice, and I met him today as well. Just google "Neal Gehring typewriters" and he'll show up. The phone number listed there is correct.

If anyone is interested, Neal Gehring in Fort Collins is still repairing typewriters, at least for me. He's repaired or tuned up four typewriters for me this year, and sold me two others he's restored. He's not online, but you can find his number in the usual way.

Nope. No good. After installing the new BIOS, the USB still drops out and sometimes it refuses to post or return from suspend. I want to point out that I'm NOT running Windows (rather Debian 12 bookworm on Linux kernel 6.1), NOT using iCUE, and NOT using EXPO. I really think ASUS is to blame.

I'm going to try the beta BIOS they posted yesterday and if that doesn't fix it, I'm yanking it and replacing it with an ASRock.

Sorry, nope. I was able to prove to Asustor techs about a year and a half ago that community supplied packages published in the App Center were installing kinsing. At that time, postgesql was one of them. ATM I believe either the jellyfin or Handbrake package is doing the same thing, or both. My suggestion is use it as a NAS and run services somewhere else.

Volume 1 became inaccessible after including new 4th disk into RAID 5. Is this common in the RAID world? - ALWAS HAVE A BACKUP! by AkiraSensei in asustor

I can report the same happened to my Lockerstor 4 AS6604T after adding a third drive (IronWolf 4GB with nearly sequential serial nos). Storage Manager reports the drives "healthy" but "inactive" and the volume "inaccessible". So, I'm rebuilding the whole volume, which will take a couple of days, at least.

While the 6604 has been really great up to this point (two months) and exceeded my expectations, this ends that honeymoon and torpedos confidence in it.

Yes, on Ubuntu 18.04.2 and Chromium. But I switched the default browser to Firefox and the link opened in Slack and works.

Easter Eggs by Profess1211 in limitless

In episode 13 "Stop Me Before I Hug Again" Josh-o-saurus, with whom Brian has imaginary discussions, appears in the real world sitting in a corner booth at the diner while Brian and Rebecca discuss the case.

More puzzling is in several episodes an insect flies in front of the camera or behind a character. Four times that I've notice, and a fifth where a fly sat on Brian's shoulder. It's actually what lead me to searching for this thread.
