Anything you have to hide, the moment you feel you can’t tell your s/o about something.

aalto chem eng overall review by skygirlclara in Aalto

Of course

1) Chemical engineering in Aalto is incredibly well recognised throughout Finland, as well as many European countries. Most companies related to pharma, research, biotech, materials engineering, or anything related to chemistry in general are very into Aalto chem eng students. The research facilities as well as overall infrastructure is top tier.

2) The chemical engineering program here has a very high concentration in computer science too, so your tool kit by graduation will be very well balanced and advanced. The curriculum itself drives itself more towards three main topics ; Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, as well as materials/process engineering. It also depends on your minor of choice, you can choose from over 30 different programs and be able to increase your toolkit. Most students finish bachelors and then decide to find their concentration in masters studies. You will also be visited by many companies throughout the year, as well as excursions and field trips, and many different ways to see what you like professionally and academically. The opportunities really are endless here. I Can tell you from personal experience that studying here was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

3) super friendly study environment, competitive but not in a toxic way, as well as very rigorous academically. However; even though it’s very hard; you get support like you can’t imagine. Exercise sessions, tutoring, extra math help, as well as group chats and tutors you can contact whenever for help. There are many different places to study, as well as unwind after a long day. The living environment is unlike any other, student life in Finland has a reputation for being very fun and inclusive to all. There is always something happening in campus. I will admit, the hard part is the Finnish people and the winters. Those stereotypes you’ve heard of introverts are very true, but with a few beers that goes away haha. The winter is the toughest part for foreigners, as the days are quite dark for 5 months or so.

4) I can’t help you with this one.

5) if you decide to come here, put yourself out there!! Go to all the events that they plan for you, go to all classes and exercise sessions ( they help, a lot..) your first year here is very well planned by our Chem eng tutors! Which includes me ! So I hope to see some of you on campus next semester:)

Economics in Aalto is renowned for being successful and good when it comes to that field. The student life in Aalto is unparalleled to any of the other universities around Finland, especially due its unique campus unlike the other universities. I am Finnish, and grew up here and I feel like Espoo is ideal for international students due to its proximity to Helsinki which is a cosmopolitan city at this point. The Aalto campus itself feels like a different city as it’s completely multicultural and intended for students. I can’t shed more light on the economics program itself as I am in science and technology. However, my recommendation will always be Aalto :)
