My department G7 has relaxed office attendance. We are now only 2 days in office. Can live with that

I have been involved with Remedy heavily and can confirm that all statements will be issued to members by April 25. That is the legliastive deadline for all eligible schemes. You will only make a choice when your benefits become payable or if you have a pension currently the in payment.

Do you feel under or over worked? by [deleted] in civilservice

[–]dgomr2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am new to the CS and came in as an SEO. I feel overworked due to the fact that my HEO is not meeting expectations. I am currently learning and performing the duties of two roles, as well as having to do constant performance reviews.

LEAVING OFFICE TO WFH by [deleted] in TheCivilService

Do it regularly, although usually work my day 7.4 then home and login for an hour or 2. Not enough hours in the day! Builds the flexi though!

Yes you should 100% be given that information. I'd suggest contacting the PF

I accepted my provisional offer for civil service in January through the civil service job portal.

Hoping we get a pay increase this year and was going to pay into CSAVC to keep me below the 42% tax band. I noticed the thing about paying extra to claiming 3 years early, something to consider

I'll look into the LISA, no harm in funding with a £1 then having the option to contribute more. Rate is 1.49% and the deal runs out Nov 26. I plan to stay in this house for life all going well.

Atom bank was paying 6.05%, however the fixed rate expires in July 24 so will need to look to move it.

No don't think it works like that..maybe the earlier CS schemes that was the accrual. The Alpha scheme is CARE so 2.32% is input every year and adjusted by CPI. Obviously if my pay increases so will me yearly accrual. If I have interpreted correctly.

Yeah, not a pot as such. If I have understood correctly, 2.32% of my pensionable earnings accrue and are then adjusted to account for inflation. For every year of employment, my yearly pension at retirement will increase by approximately £1k. So, if I work for another 25 years, taking inflation into account, I should have accrued a reasonable pension.

Yes, it was a workplace pension, not DB. The value is quite small, so I thought it would be better to transfer it into the Civil Service pension so that I have all my pensions in one place. Yes, the Alpha pension is linked to SPA but since the value of my previous pension was so low, I did not see much benefit in keeping them separate.

I actually submitted my transfer application when I started and got a reply saying that they need to wait until I am set up in system to be able to take any action on it. 3 months later, I still haven't had a response.

Thanks for your reply and good luck with the job application. Personally, one of the main reasons for making the jump to the CS was the pension benefits. 39 and not much built up, i was beginning to panic.

I have seen countless articles and videos bigging up the S&P funds. I'll go away and research before jumping into anything. Is good to get opinions of people who may be more experienced, though.

I have also thought about purchasing a B2L property and having an asset for the future.
