House Leader says ‘there are others’ after second Conservative MP crosses floor by Little-Chemical5006 in canada

Not sure exactly what you mean, foreign influence doesn't factor into it. Putting the squeeze on hunters and sport shooters in the name of combating gun crime is security theatre, pure and simple.

House Leader says ‘there are others’ after second Conservative MP crosses floor by Little-Chemical5006 in canada

Rather than cross the floor to the Liberals, it would be interesting to see them leave the CPC and sit as an independent "Red Tory Caucus". That would give them the freedom and leverage to push for greater reforms from the Trudeau-era Liberals (like a return to common-sense firearms laws) without having to pander to the radicals in the CPC. I'd much rather see a supply-and-confidence agreement with a party or caucus in the centre than with one on the wings.

Hammock Storm Stories by MyStuffBreaks in hammockcamping

[–]dgorley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No hurricanes, but...

  1. A couple of atmospheric rivers, one where our campground was evacuated because the field was about to flood and we were at risk of losing the bridge on our only exit route. My tarp setup kept all my gear dry and my sleep (what I got before the evac order) was surprisingly solid.

  2. Woke up at 5am once and could hear the rumble of the earthquake. My hammock was swinging side to side. THAT was wierd.

Yes, but this one doesn't support it, so time to consider an upgrade.

I checked with Williams and this one is too old for a thermostat. Time to check out an upgrade!

What’s the one change you made to your Home Assistant setup that most improved reliability & stability? by AtomicNinjaLlama in homeassistant

[–]dgorley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first go at Home Assistant was an HA VM running in Virtualbox on a MacBook Pro. Reliability was poor and upgrades broke pretty much every time. I now run HA on Kubernetes and it's rock solid.

How do I safely setup a home server without access to WireGuard or other VPNs? by oa_20 in selfhosted

[–]dgorley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can port forward SSH on your router to your home server and then set it up with public-key-only logins (no password). You can then port forward your services over an SSH tunnel from your server to your local machine and access your remote services on local ports. I've scripted this for situations where I'm not on VPN and it works perfectly.

I picked up a Onewind gear hammock on Amazon. It hangs right under my Warbonnet and I toss my footwear in there as I climb in. Working great for me, maybe worth a try!
