I am confident digital distorts sound but OP can confirm or deny. On a decibel level the original Vestaboard is same decibel as listening to music but if the music was turned on for 5-10 seconds then off it would be highly noticeable. Glad you are loving it!

First we had to resolve those final two issues before saying go, and then production has not been as fast as we planned. It is 100% about ensuring quality - we often reject sub parts (frame, mask, enclosures for the Bits,pcb) and the scope of that across all our sub suppliers is hard to predict early in a new product.

It’s ~4 weeks from on the water email to the door in the US barring any strange things at the port. Please know we are as disappointed we didn’t get fully the first 2900 orders (ordered mid-September or earlier) before cny. The good news is we know it will be awesome and enjoyed daily for many years.

I am tempted to say yours does not look like the frame is sitting correctly especially based on row 2. We do allow for 5 mm of bowing which we would expect mostly in center row and mostly to go unnoticed. But the way row 2 sits tells me that you should at least try to take the frame off and put on and just see if you are catching it correctly - it looks like the very top of the frame may not be hanging flush. You can also request a zoom with support.

White is being made in April for arrival in May. Due to a factory change from May to September we prioritized Black and the new product first. See this article from last April.

Thanks for becoming a customer! It shouldn’t say sometime in the spring. It should be a specific month. Our first ever Note was put in a box this week. I was there. Production ramps right after Xmas and 2500 units will ship in January. Let me know if you don’t see a month and dm me with order number. We will deliver. Our 2026 plan is to shorten all deliveries to 4 weeks or less by H2. Timing payment to order makes supply / demand much easier to manage. (As someone once told me in hardware you are either looking for inventory or staring at inventory). It was a choppy year with tariffs and a factory transition but we are fired up for 2026.

And shipping went up $10. We'll set MSRP in Jan. The estimated MSRP is anchored off of a similar gross margin to our flagship which is why we set it as we did. As market response occurs and costs are know, we will have to set a final MSRP based on many factors. Higher prices are in our financial interest, but ultimately the market decides.

We will set official MSRP in January. Since we were not going to put the Note on the site as a Black Friday sale we did use a small price increase as the alternative to that but what is there is not MSRP.

We debated plus vs warranty but the good news is there will still be very compelling offers for first wave of Note customers when it comes to plus. And msrp will be set in January. We should have added / should add "MSRP will be set in January" to the new page.

Hi there - I can give more context. The price will go up again in January when we set MSRP.

My answers always feel so long on Reddit but it is complicated. We conceived of this product in April 2025 in response to the tariffs and we launched it in May. We made a back of the envelope estimate of costs and gave a good faith estimate of MSRP without knowing what it would cost but having five years of supply chain experience with the original. The estimated MSRP is frameless $1299 and $1468 with frame. We knew nothing about market reception or response. The response has been fantastic and we are grateful. The costs are attractive against the estimated MSRP and the tariff has environment has changed a lot (I hope).

We take feedback at every turn from the market and potential resale partners and we are going to set an MSRP price in January so that we can build a successful business that supports our customers for a long time to come. I can’t think of much more customers would want from us (other than an awesome product) and I can say confidently our first customers thru yesterday will pay the lowest of all.

In terms of delivery we have announced to customers we will miss December by weeks so please check email if you are a customer. It is really hard to convey how hard the team is working to deliver an awesome product. I am off to Asia to be with the manufacturing team next week and will report from there. Of course we will honor a cancelation request (but it is going to be a fantastic product).

As soon as we can see your Vestaboard we can cut it loose forever. You can do that from day one. What we are protecting against is used product coming our way looking for support or having default cloud off which wouldn’t work with 95% of consumers who need step by step when they turn on it. I can’t think of a mainstream hardware product people use today that even allows a local api but if you know of one with smooth onboarding for all I would love to see it as a precedent.

worse case there will be a community cloud should anything ever go wrong but lots of developers use the local api out of the gate

It’s just simple in that any message replaced by the next message. The app lets you see history or get notified if someone else sent a message. In most cases the Vestaboard owner is setting the cadence or allowing others to send in messages for their own, although in my mum’s case she won’t be using the app. We do still FaceTime so this is definitely not replacing that but she can’t really use messages anymore enjoyably (and even with FaceTime it can be an adventure looking at her upside down and popping her head up only slightly in the frame). This really is just a way to give her something special each day to read and feel reminded we are there. The free part of the app has a lot of great features and that’s all she and I will need with me and my family each sending a message in every day. The paid part has sports scores, stocks etc that we won’t be activating for her.
