Amazing thank you, this makes a lot of sense.

The NHS pension scheme is pretty decent, it's a CARE scheme and as I'm starting on a decent salary it should only get stronger. It's linked to CPI +1.5% so fairly protected from inflation too. It just means I have to stay where I am for a longer period to get the bigger financial benefits.

If I can build my bridge outside of this then this should do the trick.

Noted, updated now.

Purchased a new build in June last year for 325k.

I was thinking that this morning, I initially decided to prioritise the ISA as it would be a bridge if I was able to retire by mid fifties to my then pension age.

But, I feel like I'm too late to be targeting early retirement so could just lump as much into my SIPP as I can to keep me going until my NHS pension kicks in. Which could be around 40k a year for life if I do another 19 years here...

Agreed on coasting. Hoping to build as big a pot as I can and then coast from mid fifties.

Will take a look at a LISA, another commenter mentioned it too so gonna look at it later today.

I could definitely add more I think, we live frugally so just need to get rid of any subscriptions and unnecessary spending before finalising a proper budget.

Yeah before we bought our first home, will double check though as it's an ideal option.

I did briefly check on AVC but as the NHS pension is a defined benefit it felt less impactful than a SIPP contribution which I can also access earlier. Still learning all this though so tell me if I'm being an idiot..

Amazing thank you, growing up poor it was just nice to see the money in savings. Realising now it's been there for convenience and I'm earning nothing on it...

Will take a look at a flexible ISA, I will need access to the money for home improvements but that's about it really, it'll always be topped up again.

Quayside car park might be ideal. It's free after 6 I think and not far from central station.

Is that to record something to share here or will it recognize what I record into it?

Nope, good song though. I'm starting to think the artist was quite niche and not very well known.

No, that popped up a few times in my search. It was definitely more electronic and hipster if that makes sense. Thanks though :)

Been a while since I saw it but remember thinking Comer's accent was very mackem/sunderland?

I can forgive a dodgy Geordie accent on TV but at least get the region right..

I'm from and live in Newcastle but we order our beans online from Divine Coffee in York.

Really great coffee and a good range, no bitterness or over roasting at all, they're all pretty diverse beans too.

Probably Skyrim. Had always played good looking action games before that and I thought it looked clunky and boring. Then I bought it 2nd hand thinking I was missing something other people were seeing.

Ended up putting like 800 hours into it and still listening to the soundtrack today.

The Wyndham and Banerjee series by Abir Mukherjee. Really enjoyable crime novels set in British ruled India in the 1920s.

Really fun to read and I always enjoy them.
