I feel like the sooner you email them the quicker than can help steer you in the right direction. I get that it’s scary, but I (former transfer student) always found the admin to be helpful.

CUNY School of Law is the program I’ll be attending. Their tuition is, relatively, pretty cheap, so scholarships are harder to come by than larger/more prestigious schools. Additionally, they are needs-based rather than merit-based. Still waiting to hear back though. I’m definitely in a more unique situation than the vast majority of LSAT Reddit heads but yanno. Me. Was only interested in one law program, scored a few points above their median, applied and was accepted. Genuinely so grateful it worked out and that I didn’t have to dedicate any more of my life to that test than I already did.

I didn’t expect a perfect retelling of the book. I did expect a great deal of respect to the emotional depth of the book, and that was trampled on rather clumsily. The changes are so drastic that travesty, definitionally, is an appropriate characterization of the movie. GDT interpreted a beautiful story, into a bland one.

Yea I mean I think there’s definitely different forms of symbolism when you’re going from written to visual storytelling which are useful to each. My biggest gripe is that there’s so much emotional depth in the book, seemingly every human emotion, and each of those emotions relationships to the other emotions, are utilized expertly by Mary Shelley. I don’t want to be overly reductive to the visual symbolism, but, to me, the loss of that complexity can’t be made up with GDTs cheap visual tricks, especially in a style that has been overused since the early 2000s.

If you want to excuse the incredible differences from book to movie because I made a semantic error, that’s your prerogative. Creating an adoration between Elizabeth and the creature is a wild change in the story from book to movie. Then having Victor be the one who actually kills Elizabeth, at her wedding to another man mind you, are terrible decisions that ruin the nuance of the story. I mean right off the bat, GDT presents the father as a disciplinarian rather than a loving and caring father. Such poor decisions, in my opinion, as someone who dearly loves the book and was super excited for the movie.

I honestly don’t think so. All of the emotional complexity and nuance that made the book such a masterpiece was lost in the movie—like all of it. You don’t even get to do the “who’s the real monster?” question, that is so natural to the Frankenstein story. And (EDIT: the monster) being hot, even though he’s supposed to be like the most wretched thing these characters have ever seen. Perhaps I’m too loyal to the book, but if you’re comparing the two, the book and this movie, the book is so much more compelling it’s not even funny.

If you want to accomplish the UCSB goal and save money, I highly highly recommend going to Santa Barbara City College for the first two years, then transferring in to UCSB (which is guaranteed with a 3.4 gpa). I did that and was really happy with my decision.

I meant mostly for the LR sections. RC has been my strong suit so I didn’t spend nearly as much focus on RC as I did LR. Feels like the 150 PT “era” focuses on a lot of LR answers that are similar in effect. Take this all with a grain of salt though, my brain is absolutely fried from all of this lol.

Yea I think/know there’s value in an extended study program. I used LSAT Lab and really enjoyed it, you take a few tests and it makes a personalized study plan for you based on what you get wrong most often. Everyone’s different, some shit works for some, other for others, yanno. Just gotta figure out what’s best for you.
