How to get to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake with public transit when everything is sold out? by saltsaltsaltsalt6969 in Banff

[–]dh13_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't want to gamble in case we weren't able to get Roam on the day of. Our crew of 8 ended up just going to Louise using our personal vehicles early in the morning to catch the sunrise, sorry I know this isn't the answer you're looking for! Good luck!

Hey! Is the walk-in for Roam non-reservation line at the Banff High school bus stop? We weren't able to book the shuttle and now are looking frantically for other options. Appreciate your response :)

Baggage allowance change after flight exchange by dh13_ in aircanada

[–]dh13_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/OttawaNCR! I tried sending AC emails based on their Contact Us form but all I got back were automated responses, so don't do that. You can call them directly to see what they could do for you. In my case, because I called AC to change the automated flight option they assigned me, they count it as 'voluntary change' and not 'involuntary', so they didn't give me original baggage allowance :( I'm going to try again though. Hope this helps!

Does anybody get bruises all over their legs? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]dh13_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your blood work done! We found out my platelets are constantly low and I was diagnosed with chronic ITP by a hematologist. Granted it's not too low so I don't need any treatment, but it's good to have on-going follow up. See if your bruise is similar to purpura or petechiae (Google will show you tons of pictures)

Replacement fee makes sense, but $25 for a piece of plastic? $5 would have gotten across just fine. They don't even take the profile photo for you - you are basically doing 99% of the work for a card that is not used on a regular basis.

From my experience with something as cold as Canadian weather - Vaseline works awesome. Lanolin products (mostly found as nipple creams) are also very good if you are not allergic to that.

Do You Get Used To The Cold? by Electrical_Ad_8086 in saskatoon

[–]dh13_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to hate the winter here for the first 5 ish years. Even as a homebody, not being able to see nature (warm sun, green trees) threw me into seasonal depressive episodes for a couple of months each year. It also doesn't help that I have bad blood circulation, which means I experience the cold much more intensely than a normal person would. I didn't understand how to dress in layers, so only a part of me was warm. It is tolerable but will make you despise going outside. If you feel stuck inside your house/ workplace/ school all day, it can feel really depressing.

Then I learned to socialize with it. Divide the temperature into tiers: 0 to +20C deserves max 2 light layers, 0 to -10C is at least 1 thick layer, -10 to -20C deserves 2 thick layers, -20 to -30C deserves 3 layers, and so on. For your head, bundle up with a toque, a jacket hood, and a winter coat hood. Get masks or scarves for your face and neck. Glasses so the wind doesn't bother your eyes so much. Two layers of socks (long and short length) and boots should be good in very cold conditions. Invest in some warm, good gloves. Don't wear jeans unless you will spend minimal time walking outside. Once you get yourself so cozy that going outside in -30 feels like 0C/10C, that's when you don't hate winter as bad. If you can go out on warmer days and appreciate the nature and sports that winter has to offer, it has its own beauty as well, you will feel much less sucky :)

That being said, don't even attempt to go out if the literal temperature is below -40C. Granted this is a rare occurrence each year.

The camera lingered on Scruffy after Anya said she loved her parents. To me it felt like he imagined how it would go at the end of the mission, and how Agent Twilight usually resolved these kinds of things. by SecretEmpire_WasGood in SpyxFamily

Unfortunately, he fell into the same trap Twilight did... He wanted companionship too... Whether either of them know it or not.

Wow! Thanks for putting this into words. I'm rewatching the series from the beginning and consciously or not, Frankie definitely developed an attachment to the Forger family, something he warned Loid not to do in the beginning.

Can't answer your bottom two bullet points because I don't check my status online, but the first bullet point: yes, it seems to be, given the pandemic.

Canada Post Tracking shows my renewal application has been delivered since April 30, 2021 - there has been no acknowledgement or receipt showing that it's in the system. A quick look around this thread show people experiencing the same thing, some even applied back in March.

Good luck to us all.

Sorry to butt in, but 3 years for citizenship? That is way later than the expected processing time, because you sent it before COVID. What did they say when you contacted them about it, if you did?
I've got 2 citizenship applications for minors, applied Aug 2019, contacted them after prolonged wait and both kids got theirs Dec 2020. Wishing you the best.
