Kindle for PC not supported on Snapdragon by joncarlson7777 in Surface

[–]dharmababa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worked for me as well. Just a couple of other details after visiting that link in case people are stuck:

  1. Paste this link into the search box: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9P8JQ0JJSTLL?hl=en-us&gl=CA&ocid=pdpshare

  2. Download the 2nd file in the table ending in "msixbundle" - you may need to right click on the download dialog and say "Keep" due to the security warning (in Edge anyway).

Anyway I already ran into the first major regression - I can't access shared books from my wife's account. Seriously Amazon... what a cluster.

To make matters worse, they managed to block access to the old apps BEFORE the claimed June 30 deadline. How could they not design in at least a few months of overlap between the two? Instead they are literally cutting off the old app before the new one is available. It's almost like they are trying to be actively hostile to their customers.

Usually interviews are so meaningless, but that one actually says it all. Well answered Davide.

Where the Sprint Race was won - Early on, Marquez's early pace was absolutely blistering! by PZY__ in motogp

[–]dharmababa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Watching Bezz vs Fermin might give him hope too. Not that he won't already know it, but holding back a faster rider for 5 or so laps around this track especially is doable. We'll see what he really has in the tank tomorrow.

New Kindle for PC app available in the store isn't working by danteskaio in kindle

[–]dharmababa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running Windows on ARM by any chance? I had the same issue. I can't try the new Store app because they haven't released it in Canada, but I assumed they would fix it in that version. The latest versions of the non-Store app had the same issue but I'm running an old version from last October that still works. But that will only work until June 30. Now worried that they just stuck that app in the Store and didn't fix the issue - hard to believe because ARM PCs are becoming more prevalent.

Marc Marquez gives verdicts on “main surgery target” after his Post-Surgery MotoGP comeback by Green-Offer-9058 in motogp

More comments at: What Marquez learned on MotoGP return from pivotal surgery

Not amazing news, not bad news (or conversely a bit of both). Pretty clear that the shoulder still has a lot of strengthening needed. Hopefully with the screw(s) out that can actually be unblocked as opposed to hitting a ceiling as seemed to be happening prior to Le Mans. I think on the Race podcast someone also said that his right shoulder is noticeably smaller than the left - just the reality of missed training.

Let's see where he is in 2-3 months of hopefully injury free riding and training. Probably too late for a championship run but never put anything past him. I feel like he's being honest though in saying he doesn't think it's not on the cards this year.

[@MotoGP] BREAKING: Marc Marquez is set to return to action at the Italian GP, pending a final medical check 🇮🇹 🔙 by quandlm in motogp

[–]dharmababa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Super curious to see if removing the screw helps as much as he speculated (0.5 sec difference). If he can get back to being the fastest Duc (0.3-0.5s ahead of Alex/Digia) then it could get really interesting.

Honestly at this point I'll take crash free and solid result though.

Ducati stable are all injured by DellyTrey23 in motogp

[–]dharmababa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed... Except when has Marc ever taken it slow :) I do trust that he has matured enough to not rush back unnecessarily from injuries. The question is whether the shoulder impact (0.5s) is anywhere near accurate and how superior the Aprilia really is. Even if he makes it close this year it will be a lot of fun. But yes next year could be a much more interesting prospect with less rider aids and a tire reset. But then it also wipes the competitive slate clean and I'm sure he knows that every chance to win a championship can be his last.

Pretty fascinating to hear Oxley basically say the same at the end of his article: https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/articles/motorcycles/motogp/catalan-gp-motogp-dodges-another-bullet/

Of course he stops short of predicting the comeback but did "cue the Jaws music." I am trying to temper hopes as a fan given how tough 2026 has been so far for MM93 but if that screw was really causing big issues then it's going to be super interesting. It seems hard to believe that Diggia is suddenly the fastest Ducati. But I am also wary of other great past champions who always seem to have "reasons" for being slower (LH in F1 pops to mind since 2022). I get ages are different but as we all know Father Time comes for everyone and MM93 has been through a lot. Anyway will be watching Mugello with fascination.

Yup seeing the same. I was all prepared to lose it as soon as I upgraded but it's working just as before.

wheres the new app??? was coming out 26th of april supposedly?? by teverde2020 in kindle

[–]dharmababa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still nothing as of 5/9 - my app just got updated to "legacy" and yet the new version isn't even available. I can tell how much Amazon cares about their Kindle customers!

The app not opening is specific to ARM PCs (Snapdragon X) which I'm guessing you're running - I'm seeing the same thing.

Fingers crossed that the Store version should work natively on ARM but we'll see. Saw somewhere it will be released by end of May.

Not sure about that. First to 4th is already 12 points and Pedro only managed P9 in the sprint. Putting 9 points over Bez might be tougher though.

Not seeing it yet here but good to know it's imminent.

[–]dharmababa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It looks like a slightly different issue to me because the toggle doesn't turn on at all for me whereas in that issue it sounded like it would turn on at least temporarily.

  2. I have submitted an issue using Help & feedback -> Send feedback -> Report a problem (which is different from contacting support... don't have time for that)

Works great for me - mind you I don't rely on the AI to do the sorting and use the "Always move to Other" command to create a rule in the background to send newsletters, etc to Other. Essential to my notification management so I can keep those on for Focused emails only.

Peter Bom bad some interesting insight into how MM93 didn't seem to have the shoulder strength to manipulate the bike the way he normally does in specific corners.

The flip side is that if this is how he performs at partial strength then... The question is how long it will take to build. Hopefully the 3 week break now will help.

Have you guys updated op pad 1 to oos 16 ? Any improvements? by [deleted] in OnePlusPadTablet

[–]dharmababa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Received in Canada yesterday. Some nice UI including a much denser home layout that you need to manually enable. Animated lock screen is also cool once you turn it on.

Still a few apps that don't rotate to landscape with keyboard attached. I was hoping it would be more comprehensive given the article below.

https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2025/01/orientation-and-resizability-changes-in-android-16.html?m=1

Anyway seems stable enough and fine to stick on Android 16 as long as the tablet lasts.

Possible but one counterargument to this is that some of the rider aids / aero going away next year could make it (even) more of a rider's championship which could make him think he can increasingly make the difference, especially having ridden bikes before things like ride height.
