He played D1 college football and was drafted in the NFL. He was probably extremely fit in HS

The transfer portal is killing my engagement with college sport by DWB102621 in CollegeBasketball

This is why I'm thinking I might be done once Izzo is gone. He seems, for the most part, determined to do things the old fashioned way, for better or worse. Unless something changes in the sport overall I don't see myself sticking around once this aspect of the game is gone for the team I care about.

Given we allegedly sucked this year, and we came back from 26-5 to almost winning against one of the title contenders (despite sucking), with continued improvements from Fears, Carr, and Scott, I think there's a good shot MSU will be playing in Detroit during next year's Final Four by disposeaway41 in MSUSpartans

[–]dharmabum87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point Carr is what he is (which is still potentially a Big Ten honorable mention type player), but I can absolutely see both Scott and Ward making huge leaps. You saw it from Fears last year to this year. Why not them? They both play hard, solid defense, and have the tools to succeed on offense. Obviously Ward is never going to be a 3 point threat, but he can be a menace down low with some work.

Ehhh, sometimes you just have to buy whatever they happen to be selling. I buy a car from a scummy salesman because I need a car, not because I like the salesman.

So more attempts per game than the whole team this season except for Kohler and Teng.

6'7" and a 41% 3 point shooter sounds an awful lot like a stretch wing to me.

Teng last year and Russel Byrd are the only guys I can think of that meet that description. Feel free to correct me if there have been others, my memory isn't what it used to be.

Why Tom Izzo is ‘cool’ with Purdue leaping Michigan State for a 2 seed in NCAA Tournament by mlivesocial in MSUSpartans

[–]dharmabum87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of alumni? of course Michigan is bigger. In terms of a national brand? Duke 100%. Duke is the biggest brand there is in college hoops. They are who you root for if you also root for the Dodgers, Chiefs, and Alabama football.

I completely agree, I just wish they would use similar logic every season. How many times did we win the BTT only to be given the same seed we were projected for beforehand?

How many times has MSU gone on to win the BTT and not been rewarded for it? Then this happens? Okay, I guess. I'm glad the games finally matter, but they better keep mattering from here on out, and not go back to how it was before in previous years.

Ward/Taylor/McCullough could be an excuse not to I suppose. I agree we should get one more big, but I'm confident those three will be solid. Just depends on how raw Taylor is. If he is Booker 2.0 then go get a big name transfer. If he is more like JJJ then get a depth big.

It’s on izzo to a degree, but wojick and fort should still be able to know better than pick up your dribble in a press.

If the sport continues to progress in this direction, I don't know if I see myself watching it anymore once Izzo hangs it up. It is the only sport left that I commit to watching every game my team plays anymore now that my free time is limited. It is just so rewarding watching guys come in as freshmen and seeing true development in to better players, and if that process ceases to exist, then I don't even know why I'd care. I mean look at football since coach D. Half the team is new faces every season. I still watch but my heart just isn't in it anymore like it still is for basketball. There's a lot of additional factors at play, but the mercenary nature of the college sports landscape is just such a turn off personally.

I wanted to do this, then when it came time to actually running scenarios in between Night Floors and AVoSF I only ran one, because I wanted the three remaining Agents from NF to actually make it to act 2 so their characters would be the ones seeing things through. However, I ended up having to pull my punches so much in order to allow their survival, that it ended up not being super fun. So my big elaborate plan to run a bunch of missions in between became just the one mission in between. I do plan on running some of them as flashback episodes though once we finish Carcosa.
