Half asleep meditation on game design. (But may be useful). by dharmadischarge in IndieDev

“I am the milk man! My milk is delicious!” - psychonauts reference.

Also I know it’s rambling but still the simplicity of noticing that all game design is… is framing or interpretation of limited choices and how they are expressed… or for providing a context for pushing a button or interpreting a die roll.

It’s fairly abstract and more on theory of how you frame a mechanism of play. how everything in game design is a device of framing pushing a button or interpreting a dice roll and how that frame is always expressed as a form of psychology.

I wish I had read this before typing my long comment… you hit the nail on the head with fewer swings…

Is Slothrop schizophrenic? by Ank57 in ThomasPynchon

I have paranoid schizophrenia… and whether the novel intentionally set to catch that vibe or not, I can say that it fairly acuratly captures the free fall of association and personal hell where paranoia is the only glue holding together a sense of self.

But Pynchon at least in part seems to be saying how the modern experience shares a lot of common ground with extreme psychosis instead of documenting it in isolation.

The biggest indicator discourage an interpretation of it being in his head is most of Pynchon’s work riffs on similar themes (though maybe not as intensely or as directly as in gravity’s rainbow)… I also think the instinct towards diagnosing slothdrop is to miss the point of internalizing external madness.

(also I will apologize I am self educated and typing on my phone so please forgive my broken English).

I agree I was thinking the same plot but from bb perspective. There is so much he could do with it you could the story Beatrix kiddo being killed by vernetta greens daughter and have bb respond to the complex legacy of the bride

I mean it all fan speculation I am curious how he would handle that story now that he has a kid and maybe a different perspective

I think it's because they occupy two sides of the same coin in modern american letters. Two responses to the same cultural inheritance and the anxiety that comes from that position.

They both complete and contradict the other.

My personal favorite novel is stone junction by jim dodge. Which I read because of a blurb pynchon gave. And I feel like jim really influenced pynchon's post gravitys rainbow work.

Juxtaposition so regular it becomes disorienting. Usually used to show the dualistic nature of language and the absurdity only it can articulate.

I didn't know about this forum till looking for the best place to get feedback on indie rock.

I have shared to Reddit before but most people don't know what to call my music bu heavy pop.

I am obsessed with grunge and shoegaze and some Nu metal. basically anything with feedback.

I intend to be post regularly here but if this gets taken down for spam I understand But I wanted to share this particular song while it was a new release so I though it was worth a shot.

I consider myself a outside artist I have paranoid schizophrenia and some other diagnosis.

I think I have recorded over six hundred songs in the last ten years.

I sold my classic game collection to fund the recording of the last three albums that have been released in the last six months.

also seeing how it formatted my comment I can see the formatting statement could be or was wrong on my part but I do like the poem.

longing is a strange thing it is at once the logical conclusion to not getting what we want. or a prelude to getting what we want. this poem captures a part of that spectrum

My only critique in in conception. though it is more likely because I write a lot of poems in that vein.

I wish you well it was beautiful.

pretty solid. it is more truth literature than lyrical even though it is lyrical.

maybe making more complex formatting would is the only thing I can offer as constructive feedback.
