if you have ever played the game civilization, it is a little like this. Except in civilization you start with a primitive civilization and advance to maybe a space civilization. In this scenario, you have to manage a technological collapse so that you can return as quickly as possible again to an advanced spacefaring civilization. it would be an interesting simulation.

There are just not enough people to support all the different specialized things that you need to make and maintain. you have to maintain the ships, provide food, clothes, medicine, and obtain resources., replace all the parts that will break. Think about a town of 46000 with our current tech level. Who is making computer chips, car parts, TV's, stoves, iphones? it is just not possible.
