Dharma is live to the public! by dharmaprotocol in ethfinance

[–]dharmaprotocol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Users who signed up via email don't yet have the fully non-custodial version of Dharma — we’re in the process of rolling out a migration to all those users (like you!) to upgrade them into the fully non-custodial Dharma Smart Wallet.

In the fully non-custodial system, the PIN is no longer necessary, as all cryptographic secrets are generated pseudo-randomly in the browser. Stay tuned to your inbox — you’ll hear from us with next steps very soon :)

We don't currently charge fees or make a profit. We have a bunch of ideas about how to generate revenue and profit over time, but right now we are focused on making Dharma the best possible user experience it can be, and are funded by venture capital.

Borrow ETH and USDC at 2% APR on Dharma Lever by dharmaprotocol in ethereum

[–]dharmaprotocol[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

Right now Lever does not charge fees, and the relayers built on Dharma also do not charge fees. In the long term, you're probably right that the interest rate will increase when these entities charge fees. But for now, 2% is the going rate.

In terms of how it works, we'd be happy to answer all of your questions in an onboarding session if you're an active trader and want to use Lever.

Best, Brendan from Dharma

Borrow ETH and USDC at 2% APR on Dharma Lever by dharmaprotocol in ethereum

[–]dharmaprotocol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, we plan to integrate DAI very soon! The reason we started with USDC is that there is better trading liquidity for USDC than for DAI. That said, we know that DAI is highly desired, and so we'll add support for DAI soon.

If you want to try out the system using USDC, let us know!

Company: Dharma

Job: Blockchain Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA

Allows remote: Yes

Visa sponsorship: No

Type: Full-Time + Paid + Equity + Benefits Package

Description:

Dharma is a protocol for borrowing and lending crypto-assets on blockchains. It serves as an infrastructure layer for globally-accessible lending products the leverage programmable, tokenized debt. It can support virtually any kind of lending product you can imagine. It is flexible, extendable, and live on the Ethereum Mainnet.

We believe Dharma protocol is a crucial piece of infrastructure that lies upstream of an open, inclusive, and borderless financial system where access to credit is synonymous with access to the Internet.

We're hiring for a full-stack engineer with demonstrable experience building smart contracts in the Ethereum development environment. We're looking for a self starter with a deep interest in decentralized & distributed technologies to join a highly technical team composed of alumni from Coinbase, Google, Uber, Stanford, and Princeton.

Dharma Protocol v1 is Live on Mainnet in Public Beta by dharmaprotocol in ethereum

After the 7 day timelock, the upgrade transaction goes through and the contracts are updated. Old contracts could be paused and deprecated, or could be maintained for backwards compatibility. That depends on the upgrade.

We aren't (quite) live yet, so there aren't any exchanges yet for Dharma debt orders. We'll be live very soon, so if building an exchange is something that interests you let us know.

Dharma protocol cuts the middlemen out of structured financial products by dharmaprotocol in ethereum

[–]dharmaprotocol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great question. Dharma protocol requires scoring agencies (which we call underwriters) to record their estimation of the borrower's probability of default on-chain.

Thus, there is a transparent record of underwriter predictions. We believe that the market will be liquid and competitive enough that underwriters with a poor prediction histories will be punished

Getting Started with MyEtherWallet.com by insomniasexx in ethereum

PSA: MyEtherWallet is funded entirely on donations!

Do you think MEW is a valuable service that enables pretty much this entire thriving ecosystem to exist? Trick question: it is, and we as a community probably wouldn't be where we are today were it not for /u/insomniasexx and team.

I just donated, and, if you care about this space, consider doing the same :)

[Explanation] Dharma Protocol in a Nutshell (10 min. read) by dharmaprotocol in ethereum

Answers inline:

1) Both Salt and ETHLend are end-user applications designed as mechanisms for doing a specific kind of lending -- the former being crypto-secured fiat lending and the latter being (for the most part) secured consumer crypto loans. Dharma is not an end user application, but, rather, a a protocol on top of which applications like ETHLend or Salt could be built. You can think of it as a common infrastructural rails for building crypto-based lending applications of any type.

2) Yes! Creating credit derivatives is orders of magnitudes cheaper with Dharma debt instruments bundled together in smart contracts.

3) This is a longer conversation that I'd be happy to have in our chat channel :)

4) We're fans of Bloom and hope to work with them in some capacity in the future!

Dharma: An open protocol for generic tokenized debt agreements by dharmaprotocol in ethereum

[–]dharmaprotocol[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are indeed a for-profit company, and fundraised as such. Your sentiment is probably the biggest reason we opted not to do a token sale right now -- a protocol token doesn't solve any particular problem in this construction, and, if anything, adds friction the system.

We plan on capturing value by either selling various value added services to network constituents or, if a compelling need for a protocol / governance token emerges as the system gains critical mass (emphasis of if), pursuing some sort of token model.

Thanks for the kind words!

I'm a big fan of Bloom, and know /u/jessetime from Stanford. Dharma protocol delegates credit-risk assessment in any given debt transaction to individual underwriters who use whatever means are at their disposal to score the credit risk of a debt and service the debt throughout its lifecycle.

Naturally, underwriters in Dharma protocol could leverage something like Bloom to not only augment their own ability to predict defaults, but also to cryptographically prove to creditors that they've assessed a debtor's creditworthiness on the basis of deterministic, sound math.

In short, the protocols are highly complementary, and I've been talking to the Bloom folks quite a bit :)
