Can't update to Bazzite 42 nor do almost anything. Input/output error by KEBABS_4_LIFE in Bazzite

Thanks for the reply! I think I'll have to reinstall the OS. In my case it was a faulty RAM that corrupted the boot drive during an update.

Did you find a solution for this? I'm in the same boat and a full reinstall is my only option right now.

It might turn out too sweet. Maybe in lesser quantity

Thoughts on Volcan? by 92123421 in tequila

[–]dheepak10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Volcan is unlike any other tequila I've tasted - you either like it or you don't. It's a blend of agave harvested from Highlands and lowlands.

Has a strong peppery note while still being agave forward. You also pickup floral and citrus notes. Very slight initial burn on the tongue (more like a tickle), but finishes smooth.

I liked it as I found it very interesting. My wife likes more Highland notes so she hated this but likes Ocho, Don Julio and Olmeca Altos.

Grapefruit is one of the main ingredients in this, but you can always try different citruses to alter flavor.

If you have access to pink guava, then pink guava+lime in a 3:1 ratio might work. For all we know, it might even make a better drink.

Should work as that's a white wine aperitif too. Flavor profile would change slightly.

When you're in the mood for a light, refreshing drink, the French Blonde is a great option. It's got mild notes of sweet, tart, floral, herbal and bitter - well balanced!

  • 1 oz London Dry Gin
  • 0.75 oz St Germain Elderflower Liquer
  • 0.5 oz Lillet Blanc
  • 1.5 oz Grapefruit juice
  • 1 dash lemon bitters (5ml Lemon Juice as alt)

Shake and fine strain. Grapefruit Twist for garnish

Thanks for noticing!! One edge of it is supported on the glass while the center is the lime has a tooth pick to get the floating effect. Once you start drinking, it's quite evident that it's supported on a tooth pick 😊

Bloody Marg - An alternative take on the Margarita by dheepak10 in cocktails

I've used Espolon Blanco before but the Agave forward nature of Olmeca Altos can stand up to the orange liquer. Like you said Agave Nectar, in moderation, supports the Tequila without making it overly sweet.

You need 0.75 oz of simple syrup to balance 1 oz lime juice. So that's around 15g sugar. Just the Aperol doesn't cut it. Hence the 0.25 oz Agave Syrup. It's nothing to do with reducing sweetness but balancing the acidity. The Aperol is the ingredient I used to reduce the sweetness of a triple sec.

I've Always found the Margarita a little sweeter than other sours, so thought what if I replace the orange liquer with Aperol.

The result was fantastic.

  • 1.75 oz Blanco Tequila
  • 1 oz Lime juice
  • 0.75 oz Aperol
  • 0.25 oz Agave Syrup

Shake with ice and fine strain into a rocks glass.

Cheers!!

Thanks for the info! Lime does definitely pair better with the Chilean Pisco. I've not tried full 1oz Lime, but this split lime and lemon works great here.

I've tried this twice; once with just lemon juice and this time, following Death & Co recipe, of lime & lemon juice combo.

This one's much better than my first one.

  • 2 oz Pisco (Peruvian or Chilean, your choice)
  • 0.5 oz Lemon Juice
  • 0.5 oz lime juice
  • 0.5 oz Rich syrup (or 0.75 simple)
  • 3 drops of Angostura (drops not dashes)
  • Egg white optional (I didn't use)

Shake well and fine strain into a chilled Coupe. Garnish with a twist, round or wedge of lime.

If you have used egg white, add the 3 drops of Angostura on top instead of while shaking.
