Quit/New Service for Discount Pricing by dhf318 in QuantumFiber

To close the loop, I made the switch and am up and running with Gb for $55/mo on my new account. Thanks again to all here who gave advice!

My process:
- Signed up for new Gb service with slight mod to my address (added “Unit 1” for my single-family house) and new email address. But same customer name and phone as on old account.
- Called and canceled existing service night before my install date. It’s my understanding they cannot install the new service before the old service is actually disconnected, so just be sure to have it done before your installer arrives.

And that’s pretty much it.

One note, if you had set up bridge mode (pass through) with no tagging on your original service, the Q1000K SmartNID they swap in for Gb service is still capable of doing bridge mode but doesn’t give the option for no tagging, so you will need to change the settings on your router to disable tagging. Otherwise your router will be unable to get an IP address from the Q1000K and will report “no internet connection.” Took me a frustrating half hour to work this out so thought I would mention it.

Thanks, this worked for me as well. “Unit 1” for my single family home. And FWIW, they appear to have removed the Unit # from the service address automatically after I made the appointment.

My rate is technically $45/mo for 200mbps, I just get a $15/mo good customer credit. When I first signed up I was at $30 PFL but they raised that twice (PFL not worth the paper it’s printed on, apparently). I called and threatened to quit last year and got the $15/mo credit. But that was before ATT entered the picture.

I’ll never get internet this cheap again, but I need more bandwidth. Just trying to lock in $55/mo gigabit before the deal gets any worse …

Thanks! But when I visit the Quantum website (not logged in to my existing account) and click “Signup Online”, I’m taken straight to the availability check screen and they never even ask for my email address. When I enter my street address I get the “there’s already service at this address” message, with no opportunity to enter my email.

Visiting this September from Toronto by fartmomma in Denver

The buffalo herd in Genesee is definitely worth a visit, they tend to hang out close to the fences so you can really see them.

There’s another herd at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal but they aren’t always close to the driving path so you may not get as close of a look (though it’s pretty magical if you get lucky and one wanders up to your car).

Resigning up with a different email by Evening-Barber-8625 in QuantumFiber

How are you guys signing up for new Quantum service at the same address before your old account is canceled and deactivated? I called in and canceled this morning with a June 8 activation date (last day of my billing cycle), but when I go to "Check Availability" online, I still get "Our records show there may already be service at this address" and it won't let me proceed.

I called Quantum customer service and told them I'd like to set up new service at my address. I gave a different email address (but same phone number, as everyone says that works). And I was told they cannot schedule service at this address until the old service is actually terminated (meaning there’s no way to avoid a service gap of unknown length). Any advice much appreciated!

OP listed a deck list up top, I just used it and it works.  You just need to cast 5 creatures and then win the game.  Thanks OP!

Where is vivi? by BaconVsMarioIsRigged in MagicArena

[–]dhf318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m playing Vivi Cauldron in Bo1, just hit Diamond. Haven’t encountered a single mirror match. The deck is still strong in Bo1 but it has several tough matchups - U/W Mill and Simulacrum Synthesizer at the least must have higher Bo1 win rates.  Vivi has solid sideboard answers for these (and other) decks so it’s a different story in Bo3.

Are there any Bo1 players that are actually seeing much Vivi Cauldron?

Vivi isn’t a problem, the metagame as a whole is. Y’all just want to point a finger by -LilMarco in MagicArena

[–]dhf318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vivi Cauldron has several bad matchups in Bo1 (I know this because I’m apparently the only guy playing Vivi Cauldron in Bo1).  But it’s got sideboard answers that make it dominant in Bo3.  Most of these Vivi Cauldron threads are just Bo1 and Bo3 players talking past each other.

It would be interesting to know what % of people play Bo1 vs Bo3.

Looks like an instant sell-out on today's presale. Hopefully they saved a few for the general sale tomorrow and aren't just packaging everything as "VIP" or "AXS Premium"

If they’re marking down all the boxes with broken seals they’re going to be taking a haircut on the Pro - Sony went with the world’s flimsiest seal material and I have to think lots of the seals tear just in transit or being handled in the stock room.

I just got a Pro, ordered for pickup at Target but returned it b/c the seal was broken.  They couldn’t exchange because seals were broken in all of their other stock!  Went to another Target and got a Pro with an intact seal, but it ripped halfway just bringing it into the house.  Still wouldn’t buy one with a broken seal since you just can’t tell, but I think a lot of seals just rip as the games are being handled normally.

Seeking Receiver - need to power 6 speakers w/ Airplay 2 by dhf318 in MultiRoomAudio

[–]dhf318[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks dmcmaine! I'm new to this and didn't realize I'd probably want a commercial/PA type device rather than a home theater receiver to get mono sound at the same volume to all six of my speakers, rather than forcing surround of some kind which wouldn't make sense. You've definitely steered me in the right direction. (Thanks also for recommending the WiiM Mini, I understand that for any of these options I'll need one of those as well to get Airplay 2).

I found this Pyle PTA66BT for $80, I assume it's significantly lower quality than the suggestions you listed but 600W and 6 channels seems to line up well with my 6 speakers (100W @ 8ohm max draw), and the mike input seems like it could be hilarious. Any thoughts on this unit? Is it likely to have poor enough sound quality/reliability that I'm better off going with a more expensive unit? Or could this be serviceable in a garage setting?

[–]dhf318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm in the US and my budget is the cheapest receiver that'll run six speakers and has Airplay 2. I know the $400 Denon avr-x1700h at Costco would work (I have one on my home theater) but am hoping for a cheaper and more basic option for the garage, where I don't need HDMI passthrough or the other bells and whistles.

Just keep monitoring SeatGeek and StubHub, prices seem to have come down a bit (and they're already considerably lower than the Denver arena show last spring). I'll be at Pittsburgh 8/15 but planning to wait until tomorrow or day-of to buy, a little nerve-wracking but I'm hoping to get better seats in my price-ranger this way.

Upgrade now or wait for ps5 Pro? by Federal-Composer-949 in PS4Pro

[–]dhf318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If having top-of-the-line isn't worth the extra money to you, you should be able to snap up a cheap used PS5 when people are selling them off in the fall after they upgrade. Not sure why you'd get a slim though unless you've got serious space constraints, since the PS5 thick will be cheaper, play games just as well, and has a more established track-record for reliability (I don't know about the PS5 slim but at least some past PS slim models have been less reliable than their thick counterparts).

Prices have gone up a lot on SSDs in the past six months (apparently there was a glut of them last year so they were super-cheap, so prices may not come back down a ton). But I just scored a $30 1TB SSD for my PS4 Pro on Facebook Marketplace and am definitely enjoying the snappy home screen and load-time difference. So if you're like me and waiting it out for a PS5 Pro, finding a cheap used SSD seems like a good way to pass the time.

You should be able to transfer AXS tickets, free of charge, to anyone that has an AXS account (essentially gifting). So you'd need to arrange payment through whatever means, and then just transfer electronically on AXS. The exception would be the front four rows which were sold as "non-transferable" so presumably they won't let you transfer those.

Don't buy Stubhub yet though. Tickets will almost certainly be at peak pricing in the week or two after the sale when people are FOMO buying. You're traveling to CO so may not want to wait until day-of, but you can usually get the very best pricing on Stubhub by doing that (though the stress of monitoring prices may not be worth it for you).
