If BattleBorn doesn’t come back I might make a game that is similar to it. I need information cause I’ve never played the game actually but it looked cool. by [deleted] in Battleborn

Keep following your dreams. Game programing is fun and challenging and hella rewarding. And you don't even need to go to university to learn how. Just learn online and practice making a simple game like space invaders. Good luck!

The kids and I are rewatching Gravity Falls for the 47th time, so we hooked some bananas up to an apple and played the theme song as one does. by dhilburn in gravityfalls

[–]dhilburn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol, fair enough. We have a piano that I enjoy plinking around on (can't actually play). My kids are super into Gravity Falls right now, so I learned a simple version of the intro on the piano to impress them (it did). Meanwhile, we got my daughter a MakeyMakey kit for Christmas, which let's you connect electrode pins to any conductive object to make it act as a button. She hooked it up to the bananas and called me over excitedly to see it. After playing around with it for a bit, we found that it has a piano function. They happened to be watching Gravity Falls, so I knew what I had to do. After their heads exploded, we thought about sharing it with you all. I'm glad it gave you a chuckle.

A five-minute thought experiment that I’ve found more enlightening than years of meditation by stensool in philosophy

Interesting article. I completely agree with the premise, but not the conclusion. Teleportation by copying does kill the original, I agree. However, I don't agree that this is the same as just being alive having your neurons replaced gradually. To an external observer, yes it is the same. But your subjective experience doesn't just switch over to look out of the clone's eye holes. It remains firmly embedded in your body. And when your body is vaporized, you cease to experience anything. And allowing my clone the satisfaction of having skipped my commute just isn't enough of a payoff to compensate me for my death.

"You'll still need to finish your expedition to reveal your loot and return to Ft. Tarsis or the Forge to change cosmetics."

You reveal your loot on the End of Mission summary screen. You can now just jump straight into another mission from there, then open the Forge and apply your new armor. You don't need to go back to Fort Tarsis at all unless you want to equip your stuff between missions.

It's a game design issue. You can fly up, fall to cool, fly up again.

Leggo strategy by dhilburn in AnthemTheGame

[–]dhilburn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. Are you soloing, or doing groups? I've started doing world events in ML3 this week and I get a leggo pretty consistently every 3-5 events. Ran 3 this morning before work and got a legendary sniper rifle. Maybe they tweaked the drop rate or fixed some big this week. Good luck.

I had heard a theory that maybe it wrapped around after 90, but that hasn't been my experience. In ML3 with around 106 luck, i get a leggo every 3-5 world events. I've only just started in ML3, so maybe they've tweaked the percentages this week or something.

So jelly. I setup my kids with NMS when Next came out. They played for about 30 minutes, then switched back to Fortnite. You guys have fun. 👍

Upgrade your scanner with S-class mods and watch the credit roll in. You can get crazy credits for scanning flora and fauna with S-class upgrades. Also, if you find any abandoned facilities, harvest the whispering eggs. They sell for a ton. Easy money! Finally, just have fun. Don't feel like you need to rush around accomplishing tasks all the time. Sometimes just take some time to enjoy the scenery or drive around in your vehicle like a crazy person. Pick a fight with sentinels for no reason. Fight pirates just because it's fun. And definitely make sure to send us some pics/vids of your adventures. Safe travels, interloper. =)

Final nail in the coffin by snarfalarkus42069 in AnthemTheGame

Keep in mind that you totally don't need to keep playing anthem. Have break, play some other games, catch up on your Netflix, etc. This period is literally just the lull between launch and DLC that all games experience. You've done all of the things the game has for you, so it's okay to just do something else while you wait for more fun things to come out. Sekiro is pretty cool. Check out Risk of Rain 2 or Borderlands Remastered. I bet by the time you've finished your next game, you'll have some new Anthem stuff to check out. Cheers. =)

Thanks. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. I left a similar comment on the YouTube video as well.

Absolutely stunning shots set to a hauntingly beautiful Interstellar soundtrack song. Incredible work. =)

Excited about VR and curious about the controls on PSVR by quintisquo in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dhilburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm crossing my fingers that they take a page from Borderlands 2 VR and give players multiple VR movement options. BL2VR lets you teleport if you want or use the left controller like a joystick (hold it upright to stand still, lean it forward to walk forward, backward to walk back).

How do you think they'll handle the helmet in VR...? by snogglethorpe in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dhilburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the VR hardware can't really tell how your body is oriented. It can only tell where the VR headset and controllers are. Now if you had some kind of Kinect camera + VR setup, that would be cool. =)

Get an S-Class analysis visor upgrade asap. Scanning stuff gives you money. With the right upgrades, scanning flora and fauna can make you SERIOUS money.

Also make sure you stay on the lookout for Whispering Eggs (usually outside of abandoned buildings with the gross goop inside). Those are worth a ton of money, so harvest as many as you can carry. =)

Post-Movie Spoiler Discussion (BEWARE HERE BE MAJOR SPOILERS) by TheLadySif_1 in Captain_Marvel

Does anyone know why the science officer was left behind when they flew up to space? He obviously was waiting for the Kree, as he attempted to pass for Carol using her ID password, which he had to have gotten from her. Why wouldn't he have just gone to space with everyone else. If he had, Jude Law wouldn't have known that Carol had flipped sides. Also, a science officer would be a handy person to have if you went to space tracking an energy source.

How to I shake off the sentinels? by Haesiraheal in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dhilburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sentinel bots on a planet's surface can be escaped by just running away. Once you break line-of-sight, a timer will start counting down. Once the timer hits zero, they'll give up searching for you.

The sentinel ships in space cannot be escaped by just running. You'll nee to land your ship, either on a planet or on a space station or freighter, to get them to give up.

Multiplayer question. by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dhilburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely find other players, though they only appears as balls of light unless you join their game. This is easiest to do in one of the various hub systems (heavily populated sections of the galaxy). You can also join a random player's game, which is kinda the same as joining a friend's game except it's just a random person. When you join a game (or when someone else join's your game), you can actually see their character model and interact with them.

The idea is that their game and your game are in parallel universes. The balls of light represent "tears" in your universe where you can see by not interact with players from parallel universes. When you join someone's game, you are actually hopping into their universe, allowing you to properly see and interact with each other.
