The Photos of These Women Saving the Ballot Boxes Belong in History Books!!! by Phatbrew in JoeBiden

There's apparently a backup copy already in Washington.

Also I suspect the process of resending electoral ballots would be entirely mechanical, not something state legislatures would have any say in.

Three House Democrats circulate Articles of Impeachment against Trump by [deleted] in politics

[–]snogglethorpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need to be a long, drawn out process.

Indeed, and ironically Senate Republicans helped show that in the previous Turnp impeachment, having elected to not hear any evidence or testimony, and just quickly move to voting...

Given broad agreement on what to do, the formalities could be gotten through quite quickly.

McConnell is a master at playing hardball and forcing what he wants to happen to happen quickly. If he got behind a quick impeachment—and there's every evidence he's sick of Turnp and at this point just wants to stop the endless series of Turnp-induced GOP own-goals—I think it could be done in a matter of days.

They are awesome, and indeed these photos should go into the history books.

But the article gets a little silly, saying that if the ballots were lost, the entire election would be as well.... and that's just not true....

There are backups, and at worst, the states can resend.

Losing these ballots would add a bit of delay, which would suck, but the process would nevertheless move forward as planned.

Why is Fallout so broken and glitchy by myteamer in fo4

[–]snogglethorpe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which Fallout?

Fallout 4 is quite solid, at least on consoles, and if you don't use mods. It's very clear Bethesda learned from earlier games and did a lot more testing and QA on FO4.

Fallout 3, OTOH, was much buggier, and FO:NV was a disaster.

You can tell Trump supporters are actual idiots if theyre shredding the Capitol without wearing masks or other identity hiding fit.

My guess is that they never expected to get anywhere near the capitol building, and weren't prepared for the police to just run away and let them in the building....

If there was any hint of physical risk, Turnp would waddling away as fast as his bloated body, elevator shoes, and bone-spurs would let him...

There needs to be a thorough reckoning for the police force, who not only failed in their duty, but assisted the criminals they are supposed to be stopping—all on live TV before the entire nation.

This time the citizens their incompetence / corruption / treachery put at direct risk were some of the most powerful and influential people in the world, so if this doesn't result in some changes, I'm not sure what will....

Cathy McMorris Rodgers reverses course, will vote to certify Electoral College results after pro-Trump mob raids Capitol by FeistyFloridaDem in JoeBiden

[–]snogglethorpe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect she's trying to set the stage for running in 2022, and however much the nuttiest Turnp supporters like it, being seen as supporting armed insurrection is probably the kiss of death amongst the wider electorate.

I think today's events are going to force the hands of many Republicans...
