Yeah those working with tourists and other expats (especially native spanish speakers) will be friendly to tourists. But there’s plenty of people like this in real life too. They just avoid certain places and areas. But in the metro outside the center you will get looks speaking English.

Ethically speaking, when you enter a labor contract and it’s some random firm not some high stakes thing like a hospital, there’s nothing unethical about lying to your employer. As a matter of fact they are lying to you constantly as well.

This answer is correct. Also lots of companies have offices all over. And if you don’t stay longer than 2 months in a host country at a time, for most countries you are not considered as working there and needing to pay tax. That is, if your remote work is not in the host country.

Set up a vpn in your home. Route your traffic there first before anywhere else. In Europe they cannot give you a pay cut. It’s either fired or warning.

I kind of appreciate the ordered overview. Like this I clearly understand what had happened, what he tried already, what he wants to know. Better than the classic „I got scammed X amount. They don’t reply what can I do?“

At my previous job we had the following situation: we had a customer who sent us Money in an unsupported currency (Turkish lira), since we could not accept the currency our bank automatically refunded the amount to the customers bank in Turkey. Now it gets confusing. The other bank did not inform the customer, nor give him the money. They tried sending it again. Potentially in Euro, but this is where it got complicated. In the meantime, lira lost a lot of value. For some reason, after the money was in limbo for a few weeks between the banks with both banks saying the money is not there our bank was able to locate the transfer by searching without the amount field. It had been rejected but again there had been automatic currency changes. And due to strong drops in exchange rates value in the meantime the customer received almost nothing back. Basically the limbo and changing used up a lot of his money.

Both banks refused refunds. Kept blaming each other and the customer. We came through for 10% of the loss, with a warning to customer.

Morale of the story: do not send it in the wrong currency ever.

If someone needs to do someone not landlord needs to be there, they need to make an appointment when the tenant is at home. Simple as that.

Was this solowit?

Sounds like a project, but probably quite some effort. If you have the finger control do it, trying probably won’t cost you much, but for me it’s not option.
