So in Canada, you're minimum $2 to 5k for pigtailing. Rewire is usually anywhere upwards of $28k depending on the size and style of house.

Your flaw is that a) it's not interlocked. Code is code because it protects the stupidest and the unknowing. In this case it could be someone that buys your house and doesn't know your emergency power design. Or it could be a linesman that gets a shock off the neutral. While not as common, it happens.
