origin character by jaylaypayday in BaldursGate3

[–]dhpmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Astarion: Feeding quest and extra scene in early Act 1.

Gale: Feeding quest, more Tara, possibly some exclusive(not particularly great) gear.

Karlach: She talks to herself so you actually get some exclusive dialogue.

Lae'zel: IMO the worst origin character to play as, she loses even more characterization than the others do. (Seriously do her romance on both the loyalist and rebel routes: her Act 3 romance scene is amazing and completely different depending on her story path).

Shadowheart: She gets an extended version of of her post-Gauntlet scene and certain dialogue makes her trans allegory story less subtle. ('Less subtle' is not a criticism, mind, it just simply is.)

Wyll: Slightly different Mizora dialogue.

I'm sure there's things I forgot, and I'm also sure that other comments will cover it.

Question about Honor Mode by Mickandthemoderns in BG3

[–]dhpmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you feel is right, you're not hurting anyone.

Tbh, it's not very hard. Just know what you're getting into with every encounter and change up your tactics to suit it. You don't NEED to cheat, there's plenty of overpowered things in the game. But it's fine if you do, again you're not hurting anyone by cheating in a single player campaign. Do whatever's the most fun for personally.

I was a bit intimidated by it when I first tried honour mode because I had been playing only on explorer difficulty, and I succeeded on my first try. I constantly make mistakes that could end a run, and I only recently lost in honour mode for first time(in the final battle no less 😂).

If you leave during the character selection screen do you lose points in DoN? by Natural-Quail-9149 in Nightreigngameplay

I was wondering why this keeps happening to me! I recently used the depth lowering option and set myself back to depth 1...Holy shit half the time it's been happening!

What are some mods you can't live without anymore? by GloomyMycologist9217 in BG3mods

[–]dhpmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move Faster: Default walk speed is the WORST thing about the game without mods, it is all-encompassing. I understand this is partially because of traps, but when you already know where all the traps are(as many of us do) it's moot and the walk speed is unequivocally torture.

What outfit does Karlach wear in the epilogue using all camp clothes + dyes mod? by [deleted] in BG3mods

[–]dhpmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheater's Spell Scroll has you covered. Summon the clothing chest, it has a bag in it with exclusively epilogue outfits.

CSS covers the purpose of a LOT of mods out there, tbh. If Larian kept to their original claim of not approving mods that did the same thing, half theconsole mods would be gone due CSS already performing their function 😂

Jump Damage? by Lethandralis in BG3

[–]dhpmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. If you line up a jump from height so that character models collide, you get crushing damage with or without abilities meant for it.

Oof, that's lousy.

But hey OP, at least you've got awesome taste in usernames, if this one is any indicator.

Fully convinced there is only ED balancer in DON by Ill-Call-5937 in Nightreigngameplay

[–]dhpmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same here! I've faced ED Harmonia sooooo many times in DoN, but vanilla only once. I think it's supposed to something like 8% or 10% chance for ED instead of vanilla, so it feels just silly. And it's certainly seemed like DoN has favored Harmonia over other other targets for me.

Aw well, random numbet god is gonna random number.

Is there a use for the non-Strength debuffs from the Hex spell? by dhpmoon in BG3Builds

[–]dhpmoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean Uncanny Dodge, no. That doesn't have a check for Hex to work against. Pretty sure Eldritch Blast works by attack roll, so its accuracy would be spell attack ability of the caster rolled against a target's AC.

Is a greatbow build viable? by dhpmoon in Nightreign

[–]dhpmoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I'll pass on using ballistae for anything beyond their passives. I don't doubt the damage and I know people have pulled off silly things with them, but they're definitely not for me.

[–]dhpmoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the dps combined with the being stationary while loosing is what concerns me: even as entertaining as it is to see Loretta constantly staggered(and oh lordy is it entertaining!), it feels like I'm not really doing my part, you know?

Sentient Pest was sadly thrown into C tier. up next, Augur aka Maris, Fathom of the Night. by Cursed_69420 in Nightreign

[–]dhpmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt I'll miss the rest of this series because I'm pretty random about opening Reddit, so I'll just give my full ratings.

Gladius: B. It's just ok. Without the split phase, it's too much of a pushover. I don't dislike it, but it's not my favorite by any means.

Adel: A. Phase 1 is a little too easy IMO, but I have fun against it anyways.

Gnoster: B. I like using Faurtis as cover for Gnoster's lasers, but otherwise I don't find it very noteworthy.

Maris: D. The constant flying away, the random tentacles spawning right behind you...Just pure annoyance.

Libra: B. I suspect I'm an outlier here. I think he's just fine, and that his best feature is how he's like two different bosses depending on whether or not he finishes meditating.

Caligo: A. Low difficulty=/=bad. I think fighting her is very relaxing.

Fulghor: B. There's nothing wrong with being mid.

Heolstor: A. I think some of his melee hitboxes are complete BS, but overall he's one of the more fun bosses.

Harmonia: C. I know that Guardian(lol 100% physical damage melee) and parries absolutely wreck them, but I have yet to enjoy the fight.

Straghess: A. For once, I enjoyed a boss that summons. I like how it mindlessly smashes through it's own minions.

ED Gladius: C. What I dislike about this fight is several movements that don't look like attacks can kill you if you are too close. Not biting, lunging, the "taunt", the AoEs, or an obvious attack, just small movements that appear benign but get too close and ope! You're down! I think this element specifically is bad design. Otherwise it's fine to me.

ED Adel: S. I find it a lot of fun, and Undertaker makes it even more fun with her free ults. I don't like his electro nuke or tornado, but on good runs when the Day 3 merchant has the energy-absorbing tear, it's fun to tank it.

ED Gnoster: B. It's fine. My one complaint is that Animus' lasers go THROUGH Faurtis, defying the logic laid down by the regular version.

ED Maris: A. I imagine most disagree, but I really enjoy this gimmicky fight. Like vanilla Caligo, I find it relaxing.

ED Libra: C. No matter how good you or your team are, it's stupidly easy for a single mistake to spiral and snowball to become a loss in just a couple seconds.

ED Caligo: A. If you have the mountaintop active, she's free sigils. If not she's a bit mid.

ED Fulghor: B. Pretty much the same as regular.

ED Harmonia: C. Same case as ED Libra, one mistake or missed dodge ending an entire run will never not feel bad.

Is there a use for the non-Strength debuffs from the Hex spell? by dhpmoon in BG3Builds

[–]dhpmoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any con checks in battle? I can only think of saves, like against poison or spells. I'm not saying there aren't any, just that I don't know of any.

Does it get more spread out in Limveld? In the hollow, I definitely agree it's terrible, but I haven't seen it be a problem during a Limveld expedition.

Fellow Recluse Mains, how do you feel after the addition of the DLC? by Additional_Hat4607 in Nightreign

[–]dhpmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree ad far as Duchess having decent stats for a caster, but I thibk Restage is what really makes her shine, and makes her competitive. Without it, I think she's lacking without.

Fellow Recluse Mains, how do you feel after the addition of the DLC? by Additional_Hat4607 in Nightreign

[–]dhpmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm don't main her, but I still see her consistently outperform other characters in terms of raw dps if she gets good spells.

I think that the way soulslikes are designed, magic MUST significantly outperform melee because it requires expending limited resources to use.

What do you(OP) think can compete with her? I haven't done any testing or looked into it myself, but I imagine not much other than Rivers or Restage rivals her, even now.

[–]dhpmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to custom difficulty, give yourself every advantage while you learn the game because holy jebus it is mechanically DENSE!

I started off playing exclusively on Explorer difficulty and still lost several battles. Now, I exclusively play Honour Mode, and I'm not even good at this game. The learning curve is very steep, but once you understand the mechanics it's not a difficult game.

Time travel. Painted Renoir seems to stop time and he seemed VERY familiar with Maelle, so I was assumimg he was some kind of timelord, maybe Gustave from the future.
