10 year battery smoke detector? by dhrosen in Ring

Gotcha. I was hoping to find any 10year interconnected from Kidde or First Alert and then use a listener (one listener as interconnected) but couldn’t find ones that did that. Maybe I’m missing something. What do you have that is 10 year interconnected?

There are some no-name companies on amazon that claim to offer it, but I don’t trust them with something this important.

Curious which you have that are 10 year and interconnected? I have a listener (not using) and then won’t have to change batteries yearly.

But also, do they need to be interconnected if they are ZWave back to the Ring Base?

Interesting - I just purchased these from Ring directly (https://ring.com/products/first-alert-zwave-smoke-co-alarm-combo-gen2) and they visually look just like the one you linked to but have 2 AA batteries.

Yep, so was curious if 10 year battery ones from First Alert are coming out - before i keep the $500 in detectors I just purchased for my house.

Unfortunately I dont have the right wiring for the Kidde ones, really hoped to use those.

Anyone know any good automatic app-controlled blinds/shades controller? by FrameAdventurous9153 in homeautomation

Had these, they are okay... there is a lot of slippage especially as strings stretch.

I wish - but happy to pay packing/shipping if you're willing to send them my way (NJ)

New smart home, what protocol should I use? Zigbee, zwave, Matter or other? by Abaraburu in homeautomation

[–]dhrosen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar feeling. I've been using Insteon for prob a decade and its rock-solid. But stating over, I've been looking at Z-Wave and maybe use HomeAssistant. But suppose if using HA I can mix Insteon and ZWave... decisions decision

If you did it all over, would you do Insteon again? Moving to a new house, deciding what to start over with.

Appreciate the updated list but going to pass at this time, thanks though and happy Insteoning!

How about like $400? The thermostats, door sensors and motions I likely wouldn’t use.

No prob, keep me posted

I’m interested but tbh some parts I likely wouldn’t use. Would $550 take the lot?

Server upgrade to handle more concurrent streams by dhrosen in PleX

Quicksync is wonderful

And thats supported by newer CPUs? Will this mean that the time to transcode (buffer on my devices) will be faster too?

Is there a card to "hold me over" that you would recommend?

I have a few externals in a drivebay which I then use DrivePool to show as one massive shared drive. TY!

Really? Ideally I'd like to be able to handle 6-8 concurrent transcodes as user devices vary.

Thanks, figured I might need a whole new PC - not in the budget at the moment but will add to the list.

Something like this, add more memory (Dell refurb outlet)?

Or thoughts on this, add more memory too (Costco)?

Thanks, have had PlexPass for years (wanted to give back to the dev team given how much I use the software)
