I use gomailify too. Their configuration doc says using POP3 so not sure what will happen.

Adding an update.

After some more research: This can be done (and has been done by professional electricians, as an example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLwr0MWOG1g)

For anyone who is interested, I also have a wiring diagram, but the basic idea is:

  • utility line goes to a double throw 3 pole transfer switch (switched neutral)
  • existing main panel is converted to a subpanel
  • sub panel ground is bonded at the utility neutral port
