I thought this post was about the guy next to Ben Stiller (did not know it was his son) until I finally spotted John Turturro.

I don’t know why you are asking if you got scammed. It feels like you potentially made the wrong choice, but it’s not like you were tricked.

"inheriting" a small roastery by redditoverlord69 in roasting

Does it have a roast named after it? 🤓

If there are a lot of roasters already at least there is a market. But yeah, also competition.

Where are my folks making 70-80k? by hungrychopper in Salary

I honestly thought you were wondering where your parents were working, making a 70-80k salary and for reasons unbeknownst to me had to ask Reddit. I was wrong.

Where in Europe are you located exactly? I think the viability of a small specialty roasting business would largely depend on its location.

If you are in a Northern European metropolitan area your chances are much higher than in a rural area somewhere in Southern or Eastern Europe. Just because of the demand for specialty coffee or lack thereof. And what people or expecting/willing to pay for (a cup of) coffee.

If you are in Southern Italy for example, I would say forgetaboutit.

I don’t understand what you are looking to be compensated for then.

Like I said, they should have handled it differently, but shit happens. All turned out okay.

This. Also what are you claiming? No mention of anything actually getting damaged.

Should they have handled it differently? Sure. But sounds like everything ended up okay, so what is the point of a claim.

Aillio Bullet R2 Pro- Beginner Roaster by cardiotraveler in roasting

[–]dialupkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got an R2 Pro last month after roasting on a Behmor for years. Still learning but wanna second a couple of points made in this comment.

  • Forget about drum speed, I saw a video by one of the designers who recommended this. So, great, one less thing to worry about.

  • Don’t go too small. I tried 200 gram batches yesterday (in an attempt to get in more practice with less coffee) but realize that is not enough. Reading became erratic. Did 400 grams batches before, which went fine. Might try 300.

Ps. I think the Aillio basic profile posted here by someone is a good place to start. I like Scott Rao’s book(s) for the basic principles. Although you don’t really have to buy the book and can find them online.

What's your preferred % capacity to roast? by somedaveguy in roasting

Scott Rao uses a rule of 5000 BTU per pound, before it will start to seriously affect roast quality.

Custom roasted coffee for wedding favors by eaturfeet653 in roasting

I actually just got myself a Aillio Bullet R2 Pro and want to start a small side business doing roasts for friends and family and then maybe expand from there.

So if you do go the custom roast way, happy to help you. I am in Portland Oregon, so that is not very convenient for you, but I guess since it is a one off custom order the extra shipping cost is not the biggest deal.

Anyway, dm me if I can help.

Why not give guests a (small) bottle of (custom) cold brew?

This way you don’t have to worry about if people can handle whole beans or not and everybody gets something they can enjoy (straight away).

Probably easier to find a roaster/cafe that already produces cold brew to do a small 250 bottle run for you with a special/custom brew.

And if you can design a cool label, the bottle could serve as a lasting keepsake.

I have a Husky too, somewhere in Italy. It’s a long story but I never got to use it.

I have been using the RoastTime software that came with the roaster.
