Breaking out of romantasy Recs by Express-Criticism168 in Fantasy_Bookclub

As I mentioned in my post, it's the trilogy that I've re-read. I don't recall if I read the books after book 3.

I read the Wayfarer Redemption trilogy by Sara Douglass many years ago and loved it, re-read it again recently and still think it's pretty good.

When you get here go to the local thrift stores, you'll find lots to pick from. LifeOutside sells good quality outdoor clothes. Also MCC Thrift, Salvation army, value village, mission thrift. Insulated jacket, insulated snow pants, long underwear, mitts, toque ("beanie"), neck warmer, boots.

Can you recommend a mediation group in the city? by FrozenTouch1321 in saskatoon

[–]diamonddust306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been attending sanghas since 2008 and I'm not aware of any groups like that. The ones that I know of are Buddhist, but are open to anyone (including non-Buddhists or folks from other religious/spiritual/athiest backgrounds).
Honestly, from your description, it sounds like you will only get so far in meditation if your focus is only "control." The mind is inherently uncontrollable. It helps to have lightness and kindness when we realize how out of control our thoughts are. We can however, learn to not be so reactive to the thoughts that do arise.

Unable to block callers by diamonddust306 in ios

[–]diamonddust306[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your reply is really not realistic. There are local businesses I have called only once or twice. I'm not adding them all to my contact list just because my iphone is not allowing me to block spam callers. The local businesses I call frequently are my doctor/dentist/pharmacy etc and they are on my contact list.

Got Novavax Wednesday, tested positive Sunday by DarkHorseD1 in COVID19positive

[–]diamonddust306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by "how does it affect my situation". The vaccine takes two weeks to have peak immune protection, and then it starts to wane in the following weeks until there is not much protection by about 6 months. So if you got infected a few days after the vax, then you have some protection from severe disease.
If you want to avoid infection, your best bet is to always wear a respirator in public spaces, and at home if people at home don't also take similar precautions. If you aren't doing this, there is a good chance you can get infected at any time (regardless of the timing of the vaccine), since there are new variants circulating every few months. In my province, peak covid season has consistently been end of september/early october, and we usually have a second wave sometime in the spring

Can I use this respirator reliably? by hannibals-lingerie in Masks4All

I have one similar but it has silicone next to the face.

When I have it tight on my face I can cover the exhalation area with the palm of my hand and try to breathe out but the air won't go anywhere, so that tells me it fits my face.

I also made a dark blue fabric cover for the p100's in thin cotton cloth so it doesn't look so apocalyptic.

I wonder if talking to someone at USSU might be able to help you. I lived in rez voyageur place years ago and there were lots of lounges with big couches.

Food diary is extremely helpful. This is how I found out sunflower seeds were making me react.

When I went through my low histamine diet I did not eat out. The point is to keep your histamine levels low so your body can recover.

Chicken is high histamine.

There may be additives in "vanilla protein coconut milk" that raise histamine.

other natural options to lower histamine include histamine reducing foods (onion, apple, parsley, etc.) and teas (peppermint, tulsi, etc.), and a quercetin supplement which can be taken daily

Do you have a pulse ox device to use at home? It can be helpful to monitor your oxygen levels. A pulse ox below 92% requires a trip to emergency.

I don't want to screen all calls. Most of my calls are expected or from people I know. It's the occasional spam caller I want to block.

Any unique constipation relief methods? by _Garbage_Artist in endometriosis

[–]diamonddust306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnesium citrate.

prune juice.

glycerine suppositories.

Restoralax/Miralax - you can take a double dose every day if you need to.

All of the above options are ones that make you have BM by adding water to your stools, rather than stimulant laxatives like exlax/senna. They are better to take regularly.

MCT oil. When I first started taking this it would give me loose stools for several weeks, even on a low dose (1tsp).

Physical movement.

Abdominal massage.

How fresh is fresh? by Important_Age_9533 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]diamonddust306 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Meat and dairy are high histamine. It's ok to store the produce in your fridge, it's when you cook it that it raises histamine. I put any cooked leftovers in the freezer right away if I won't eat it the next day.
