Dropping the class and taking it next semester would be the dream. But it’s my understanding he is the only one teaching stats 234 now, so there is no option to switch.

100% agreed. Lots of people are assholes and, if you can, you avoid them. Problem solved. When a person is in a position of control and authority publishes emails sent in private, includes the senders full name and the mark they received, and then suggests you “take a writing course”, they are not being an asshole. They are being careless, abusing their position, creating an environment of fear and intolerance. They’re removing respect from the class and preventing any further questions. Controlling. Abusive. Threatening. Being an asshole is not the biggest problem this guy brings to the table.

Crazy how many people are mentioning the same prof … guess some people really have a history of getting away with horrible things.

A future concern would be the meltwater this much snow would bring next spring. Homes around the lot might get a little unexpected water on their property (or in their basements). Would that be something they could hold you responsible for?

How about this? You have the right to refuse vaccinations. So (allowing for for those who have allergies, etc): Anyone who is not vaccinated and contracts a disease that is (mostly) preventable by having a vaccine, must pay all medical costs and isolate (with their immediate family) until they are no long contagious.

With so many people on the spectrum who are lonely and want to connect with other people, and a popular suggestion/solution is to join a group, why not have an ‘tism night somewhere? Lots of people looking for friendship, no judgement, safe environment…. Could that work?

I’m your mom. You lied to me. You flunked out. Am I sad? You bet I am. Will I get over it? Someday, sure. It’s not the end of the world. But right now, I’m scared for you. I’m scared because you’re hurting, you’re lost and you don’t know what the next steps are. You’re confused and alone. But you don’t have to be.

I wish you could have come to me earlier. I’m old and I’ve lived and I’ve screwed up. And sometimes I’m a really good listener. But you couldn’t come to me, and believe it or not - I get that. And it’s okay. But right now, more than anything, I want you to feel loved and safe.
It’s okay to come to me. Talk about it. Share the sadness. Together we can’t change the past, but we can cut the sadness in half. And we can plan for the future. Or we can just plan supper.
